Mike Brown did this wrong | The Athletic NBA Show

  1. Kings fan here, but I'll try to keep my biases in check. I don't think Mike Brown's main point was the relative impactfulness of the fouls he was showing on video. It was more about the inconsistency of the foul calls. And the two fouls he referred to were good examples – the verticality two arms straight up versus one arm down and tucked against the body (actually Lopez pushed off a bit with the tucked arm as well). Sabonis is routinely called for not having both arms straight up, yet no-call on Lopez. And coming off a pick where there is either incidental contact versus an obvious grab – again inconsistently called in the game. Though to be fair, Brown did mention the score and point swings around the fouls that results in free throws, and the disparity of the foul calls at one point in the game – 19-5 foul calls in favor of the Bucks, which does hint at the impact of the calls/non-calls on the game overall. Brown should have just emphasized the inconsistency of the foul calls and non-calls and left it at that. Really entertaining game nonetheless, and encouraging to see the Kings potentially showing signs of coming out of their sleepwalking funk and getting blown out by 20+.
