[Friedman] Word is Philly didn’t want a bonus overage carrying into this season, so they didn’t want to sign Gauthier at the end of last year. They certainly didn’t intend it as any kind of an insult, but things were never the same after this happened.

sounds like Philly blew it with their prospect, whether it’s fair to blame them for a potential miscommunication or not
No stop the narrative that this was all this kids fault fits better!/s
-surprised Pikachu face- Philly front office fucked up another NHL player.
I don’t find this credible. Flyers GM and Owner went on record that it was all on Gauthier. If you take Tortz’s date of hire and the draft, this is likely the reasoning. Also, Gauthier is supposedly close with Hayes, so also likely a reason.
Philly isn’t afraid to spend to cap like the Ducks. They would have signed Gauthier if he wanted to sign.
Verbeek likely did his homework but if Gauthier doesn’t sign when his season is over with BC, I’d worry about the Justin Schultz treatment.
