As an Avs fan the avs would have serious expansion problems if they didn’t trade Barry I think it was a fair trade from both sides of the deal

As a Colorado Avalanche season ticket holder and watching majority of the games last year I must say good trade for both teams!!! I was calling for the trade of Barrie since last year. He brought an offensive jolt from the blueline and subpar defense!! I can say I think I saw Barrie let up on more goals against them goals he scored!! Not a bad player but we have a plethora of him here in Colorado Makar, Girard and Byrum. Good trade for both teams but watching him all year….. let’s just say when the Avalanche were playing good he was a presence and a contribution but when they went through that slump in the middle of the year he was a big part of that as well!!! I don’t like losing Kerfoot. I hope Kadri works out for the Avs, I don’t know too much about him to be honest!!
Colorado will see about Kadri starts getting those playoff suspensions again haha. Toronto probably got tired of that shit. If Toronto can somehow resign Barrie after next season, they won this trade for sure. Plus kadri is aging and kerfoot and Barrie are still young. In other words, this has been a crazy day in the nhl with these signings, trades, and the offer sheet.

This is like the 3rd or 4th time since this trade I've heard a youtuber say Kerfoot can kill penalties. That is absolutely false. I've watched every single Avs game Kerfoot has played and I don't think he's played a minute on the pk. I think people just assume that since he's not a stud top 6 forward that he must be a penalty killer. Good speed and passing ability but absolutely zero defensive skill whatsoever for Kerfoot
I think the Avs had to throw Kerfoot in because Barrie's contract will be expiring, and I think he will be asking for a significant raise. His cap hit will be at least 5 mil greater than his current hit for the Maple Leafs. Depending on Marner's contract this could potentially be a rental. When FA starts next year, RHD defenseman are always highly valued, and so Barrie could get a bloated contract that the Leafs will be hard to match. This is just my opinion on the matter though.

As an AVs fan who had to put up with Kerfoots shortcommings for 2 years i have to say that you have no idea what you are talking about. Dude never killed a penalty on an NHL level, he can't shoot and loses all the puck battles. He has some skillz but most of the time he is just frustrating to watch, Tyson Barrie is great and all but his next contract will be a nightmare thanks to Newport. COL is stacked on the blueline with elite talent like Makar and Byram and needed that 2nd line boost desperatly. So for me that's basically a trade one year Barrie for 3 years of Kadri. That's almost a fair trade – a good old fashion hockey trade if you like.

I think people like you don't understand anything. This is as fair as a trade as it gets. Toronto gets ONE year of a player and gets a player in Kerfoot. Kerfoot, who couldn't find his place in a team lacking Forward depth. Colorado gets their 2nd line C and gets rid of a useless Kerfoot (you clearly didn't watch him much) Kerfoot amassed 1 point in 10 games playing with Mackinnon and Rants during the playoffs. He's a butter soft top 6 lol Joe was clearly shopping the kid.
