GAME RECAP: Penguins at Flyers (01.08.24) | Rakell Extends Point Streak To 4-Games

The Pittsburgh Penguins visited the Philadelphia Flyers for the third meeting between the two for the 23-24 regular season. Getting an early power-play, the Penguins scored 45 seconds into the game. Jake Guentzel moved the puck down to Evgeni Malkin on the goal line. Malkin gave a perfect no-look backhand pass across the crease to Rickard Rakell on the back door. Rakell now holds a 4-game point streak. A bit later in the 1st, Jansen Harkins wrapped the puck to Erik Karlsson on the point. With lots of traffic in front of the net, Karlsson shot the puck in to add another goal for the Penguins. Before the period was over, the Flyers got on the board with a shot from Owen Tippett on the power-play. Halfway through the 2nd, Bryan Rust passed to Chad Ruhwedel on the blue line. Ruhwedel fired a rocket on net to give the Penguins a 3-1 lead. After that goal, the tempers started to flare. A scuffle broke out after what felt like every whistle for the rest of the period. Tempers started to truly boil after the Penguins took a 4-1 lead halfway through the 3rd. Drew O’Connor entered the zone and curled back at the hash marks where he dished the puck to Malkin crashing down. Malkin ripped the puck to the far side just below the blocker and in the net. The Penguins maintained their 3-goal advantage until the final buzzer beating the Flyers 4-1.

  2. Great win. They ran our players a bit this game. A couple dirty hits in my opinion. Wasn’t thrilled to see them running our top guys, but great win !

  3. Nedeljkovic standing on his head lately. Pens seem to have a little more offensive confidence when he's in goal. Keep it up!

  4. Евгений Владимирович! Доброго времени суток!
Вот улыбка Вам к лицу!!! Великолепная игра! Вы настоящая звезда хоккея!( Без сарказма)

  5. I think Ned should start for the forseeable future. Definitely has been the more solid and consistent goalie this season IMO.
