My best bet as to why he didn’t want to play in Philly is Tortorella. At one point Gauthier said he wanted to play for the Flyers and then last year he said that he didn’t and never would want to. Because he is playing college hockey he could potentially play there until he graduates and then he is a free agent and can sign with whoever he wants like Justin Schultz did with the Oilers even though he was drafted by the Ducks.
