What are the Dallas Stars going to do without Miro Heiskanen?? Gut Wrenching Loss in OT vs Colorado



The Dallas Stars blew a two goal lead in the 3rd period and lost in overtime to the Colorado Avalanche on a game winner from Nathan MacKinnon. Not only was it the toughest loss of the season, the Stars could be without their best player Miro Heiskanen who left the game in the 3rd after colliding with goaltender Scott Wedgewood. On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, with the looming injury of Miro, how will the Stars fair in his absence. Even with him Dallas has struggled to find their footing defensively, it gives huge opportunities to players such as Thomas Harley and Nils Lundkvist to step up. On top of the concerns about Heiskanen, the Stars blow another late multi goal lead at home which has been a theme this season. Joey has stressed this issue throughout the year, the Stars need to close out games, but their personnel will not allow them too time and time again. Fortunately, Jake Oettinger maybe returning soon and the Stars need points in the next week to stay in the race of the Central Division. Speaking of Oettinger, it was announced that he will represent the Stars in this year’s All-Star Game in Toronto. It came as a bit of a surprise with hime being injured for a weeks now, but the Stars did not necessarily have a clear cut option with how balanced they’ve been this season. Matt Duchene, Jason Robertson or Joe Pavelski would have been great options as well.

    Title is perfect. Gut wrenching loss. I didn’t feel like we got a point on that one.

    I’ll be at the game Saturday with my Miro jersey. Can only hope he’s there as well.

    I agree with your first point as well. Dallas played awesome during that game. The goals against them really stung. I felt like most of them, Colorado just bullied their way in. Three of those goals, I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn’t interference. It wasn’t. But still a tough shake.

    Looked bad. If he is out long term I would take this opportunity to do a retool:

    Trade Robo and Delly for a top level RH Dman and bring up Bourque and Stanky and let them play!

    I would have thought roope or any of the Seguin Dutch March line would have made more sense for the ASG

    These last two games have been brutal and total 💩 shows. We can only hope that Miro's injury is not serious. A lot of things have to change and players are going to have to step up if this team wants to see the playoffs.

    We need Otter but we also need a healthy and strong Otter. Do not bring him back sooner than needed. Injuries happen and sometimes they happen to star players and key players.

    Flashes of greatness followed by moments of mental collapse. If the Stars can't get back to beating the top teams and rivals it's going to be a while before this team takes a Cup.

    3:23 We need to trade for another defenseman……ask Hatcher & Luds who they should trade for. Bring up the top prospects from the minors…Fassa and one other need to go….

    The Stars don't have the slow-start excuse anymore. Played well, but they must learn to shut it down. The last 5 minutes of a close game are always going to be difficult, and we've broken as many hearts as we've had ours broken. The problem is not shutting teams down BEFORE the last 5 minutes. You need a 3-goal lead in today's NHL to ensure the best chance for a win, and Faksa had that third goal on his stick during empty net and blew the shot. I am still not convinced the 4th COL goal crossed the line, but regardless of the situation, i think PDB should have challenged it. I blame the loss on risky coaching as much as anything. ALL of that said, the Stars are clearly as good as the Avs, they just have to get the monkey off their back.

    Alex Petrovic is a hard hitting solid right handed defenseman we have in our system. Why cant he come up. And coach Hitchcock always told the player that the boards are your friend. Use the boards to get the puck out instead of these short passes that always get intercepted with fore check and end up in our net. Just like the one Joni gave up when they scored the tying goal

    The Stars ⭐️ got one point from the game against the Avalanche could have used 2 points. They’ve gotta close games with a two goal lead. Nathan McKinnon is probably the best player in hockey 🏒 right now. The injury to Miro Haskinin is a big one… a big loss. Wedgewood has played really well between the pipes in Otter’s absence. Seguin scored two goals thought his second was the game winner. The defense has been inconsistent this season in terms of level of play they need another player to solidify the blue line.
