Bear with me here…
My parents bought my uncle’s old car for my birthday when I was heading off to college. They surprised me with it by going out to a birthday lunch. In the middle of lunch (seriously, half eaten) my dad tells me to get up and leave, to go get the car from the valet. The valet drove up in a Prius. I told him that wasn’t our car, and I started double checking the claim tags, trying to figure out who made a mistake while my mom quickly ushered me into the driver’s seat.
She told me to just start driving, until she realized I was confused and kinda in shock and had me find a parking spot. It took a good 20 minutes to rein in the (mostly) confusion and (mild) anxiety from whatever the hell that was, all the while I was just kinda wide eyed with a blank face. Then it finally started to settle in what a great gift it was and that excitement was the correct emotion for that moment.
Anyway, I could relate to his reaction. I’m sure it was a big pile of mixed emotions and logistics sprung on him at once, but that he really is honored and excited to be an all star.
Congrats to Bjorky! It’s well deserved!

I feel for the guy! My wife would be pissed off if my manager had nominated me to some meaningless workplace All Star event during my planned vacation😂
