Well I for one, wouldn’t want the Jets to face them in the playoffs if they’re on enough of a heater to gain a WC berth

  2. Leajane1980

The season is long, far too soon to be talking about this.

  3. Impressive-Storm-888

We only have to face them if they make it to the dance. That is still up in the air. Can they beat Vegas, LA, or Canucks.

Edmonton won,t make the western final.

    GO JETS GO.

  4. thecollectus

I’m offended mostly cuz they talked about a power play wins cups not 5 v 5 goals and having a NHL level goalie. EDM legit only has a power play that’s playoff ready nothing else

  5. Spiritual_Holiday511

No, we shouldn’t be. We had a great start last year, and fell off after the all star break. The oilers have the 2 best players in the world and they’re on a roll. The jets are great this year, but I think it’s reasonable to want to wait and see if they’ll keep it up as the season progresses.

  6. Kitchen-Activity-760

I’m long over being offended when the national media disregards the jets.

  7. Greendaydude22

Have you seen the tear the oilers have been on? They also beat us in our last meeting. They are not out of the question by any means whatsoever

  8. InternationalPost447

The jets aren’t stellar in the 2nd half of the season

  9. PaleAdagio3377

As an Oiler fan, I wouldn’t be excited to play either the Jets or the Canucks. Both really deep teams with world class goaltenders. Give me the Kings or the vegas first. The west is going to be tough. Haven’t even mentioned Colorado or Dallas yet. Whoever comes out of the west should win the cup.

Meh let TSN be TSN and cater to McJesus and Matthews and we ll continue flying under the radar, I’m totally fine with that.

  11. Who cares? Oddsmakers are always going to favor the team with the best player in the league. Only thing that matters is our own belief this team can do something special.

  12. Vegetable-Bug251

The Oilers had a very unexpected start to the season. They are a playoff team for sure.

  13. NuffinSaid

Oils are back baby. Not long before they are climbing the playoff branch

  14. ruffvoyaging

No reason to be offended. The Oilers have found their game and look to be a playoff team despite their horrendous start of the season. They are always a team to be concerned about in the playoffs.

  15. Amos_Burton666

No we shouldn’t let them hype everyone else. Everytime all the media gets behind the Jets we crumble. Just cruise under the radar

Oilers fan scrolling through Reddit and this one popped up.

Not surprised that TSN is still grouping the Oilers in here. They had an atrocious start to the season with straight up dumb mistakes but also had good underlying numbers while shooting at like 7% compared to their usual 10-11% and getting the worst goaltending in the league compared to the league average goaltending they had the year prior. On Nov 23 they were 5-12-1 with -19 GD. They’ve now improved to 19-15-1 with a +16 GD and into 7th in the west based on points percentage. They also have the highest xGF% 5v5 (props to the Jets for having the top actual 5v5 GF%). The team has settled in and is playing like they’re supposed to although goaltending is still a question mark.

The Jets definitely get overlooked considering they’re currently the top team in the west and are solid at every position. It’s the downside of being a smaller market. Always had a soft spot for the Jets for losing the team in the 90s and just in general also being a smaller prairie city that has trouble attracting and keeping free agents relative the sunbelt and major markets.

Here’s hoping we get an Oilers vs Jets conference final! Was rooting hard for you guys to go all the way in 2018.

  17. No_Cycle5101

Jets. That have the defence and goaltending

  18. Vageenis

Canucks fan here, we are also offended. Also – go moose!

  19. caldermuyo

I disagree, but I kinda get his point with this. You have to look at it as what will happen a few months from now, and if the Oilers are in the playoffs (and they look likely now) then the McDavid factor is a huge thing.

I mostly disagree with how much stock Hayes puts on last year but whatever, it’s not an insane angle to take.

  20. REAPER-1_xxx

Oiler fan here, this is in my feed and I see other fans commenting so,

Thanks for the video. I think the Jets are a force and if the guy is right and the Jets don’t have a gamebreaker on the powerplay you still have Hellebuyck. Who is a gamebreaker.

But to speak on the topic. The Oilers are playing .823 hockey in their last 17 games according to whatever stats got posted in our sub today. I think that is fair enough to not be offended by. Both good teams.

  21. sasksasquatch

Edmonton is only going as far as they can outscore their goalies mistakes, same as it has been the last two years.

  22. No-Expression-2404

I mean, so far they are right. With no power play and mediocre PK, makes it hard to envision a deep run. They didn’t even mention our lousy face offs. That said, loving our team, loving our chances, and if analysts had the last say, nobody would need to play the games. Go Jets!!

  23. pubix__rube

TSN and Sportsnet always stroke off the Oilers. Their goalie has a bit of a hot streak, and their announted a spot in the finals.

The problem is in playoffs if Skinner can’t stop a beach ball it’s all over. Same old story with the Oilers, yet they always get the benefit of the doubt.

  24. gepinniw

They’re all good teams. It sure would be nice to see a Canadian team win for a change.

  25. JazzyMonkenroe

It’ll come down to who is most consistent, night after night. Lots of good teams in the top 6 of each conference.

  26. i refuse to partake in stanley cup conversations regarding this team just cause i have past trauma of this team falling off a cliff.

  27. TheWatcher289

McDavid will not win a cup in Edmonton. Start chirping me

  28. degengambler-204

They’ve made it closer than us literally every year since 2018 tho?

  29. waitwhosaidthat

I love this. Keep underestimating the jets. Of the 3 teams winnipeg plays the most like playoff hockey and are built better for the playoffs. I hope the guys see this and it can fire them up.

  30. lotw_wpg

Usually they are sucking off the leafs. This is refreshing 😂
