I sent this message to Fanatics Reddit chat.
“Hello Fanatics. I want to show you the difference in quality of hats which has regressed, in my opinion.
The olive green hat was purchased about 2 years ago. It features a mesh back that is rigid and holds its shape. Same with the front of the hat, it holds its shape well. I really like how this hat was made.
Contrast that with the “military appreciation” hat that I bought just before Christmas. The mesh back is very sloppy looking and the front of the had looks bad too. In fact, I left in some of backing that was shipped with that hat so the front didn’t look completely horrible.
My question is, why couldn’t you have made the second hat the same firmness and quality as you did with the first hat? Maybe you need look at using a different vendor.”

No offense but why would you say this to Fanatics and not the NHL marketing dept? You’re never gonna hear back from Fanatics, they already got your money, not once, *but twice*.

There are a ton of different hat styles. Your original hat looks like it’s structured (firm crown) while the new one is unstructured. There are also different types of mesh. Some is pretty stiff and plasticy feeling while there are types that are much softer.
I’ve heard Fanatics stuff has been hit and miss, but imo you’re just comparing two different styles of trucker hat.
Bring them both to a game and hope for a hat trick to be free of them forever!!!
The post confused the fuck out of me because you say the one you like is olive green, but the only one that looks olive green to me is the one you hate.
New era 59fifty is the only way. My favorite Red Wings hat is a 12 year old 59fifty. Even the other adjustable New Era hats are far superior in terms of quality. Fanatics is generally trash.
Looks like one hat is structured and the other is not. I don’t see the issue if thats the case. Many places sell structured (left) and unstructured (right) hats.
Left hat is trucker style meant with structure, left is normal mesh, different style of hats are gonna be different
