On today’s episode of Locked on Wild, we get up to speed on injury timetable for Kirill Kaprizov and Filip Gustavsson. With Kaprizov expected to miss 1-2 weeks, his loss will overlap critical games next week against Dallas (home and home) and Arizona. The Wild will need Matt Boldy to step into the drivers seat. We look at how recent production increases from Ryan Hartman, Marcus Foligno and Marcus Johansson can help offset the loss of Kaprizov, but the top line needs to consistently generate until he is back. With Gustavsson we look at the problematic situation of what happens if Fleury sustains some sort of injury. We discuss other options in goal being limited for the Wild, at least until Jesper Wallstedt is healthy. We also discuss tonight’s game against the Calgary Flames and the historically invisible play of Jonathan Huberdeau. We also discuss keys to tonight’s game, which include:
1. The top line needs to take the lead but at least one other line needs to elevate their scoring to help.
2. Be wary of the Flames when on the Power Play, they have 9 shorthanded goals already this season.

The hill is insurmountable now. Even, if by some miracle, they still made the playoffs, it’s another first round exit. We should be looking at the offseason and next season already. What do they have for trade equity to improve picks or cap space?
And Edmonton and Toronto are looking for goaltending help.
Is cross checking a penalty or is it not? I’m sick of it! Had to stop watching the Wild when they had Suter and he did it always. He never got called for it and he was on my home team but I loose interest with the NHL keeping it in the game.
Call up Jesper at some point and let him be alongside Fleury for a period of time and play him at least once.

alright so CapFriendly hasn't updated with Kirill's IR status yet, but basically that means the Wild now have $19.525M on Injured Reserve (adding in Kap's $9M), and another $6M on long-term IR status in Brodin. This $25.5M makes up 30.6% of the entire team's contracts. In layman's terms, this is a HUGE problem.
