Bruins NEED Jake DeBrusk to keep scoring…
Going into this game merula getting called up from Providence was the big storyline people were excited to see him play I was as well he would start out this game centering jvr and Frederick and he got 15 minutes time on Ice just nothing really came of it he got bench
For most the third I saw him for a shift very late in the third when it was already 5 to2 but I think he did okay needs some time to adjust playing Center at the NHL level is extremely difficult that’s why I said in a previous video I
Wouldn’t have mind putting at the wing position so he can ease himself at the NHL level but hey Monty wanted to see what he had at Center the main thing I could say about this game the Bruins win this 5-2 poock phenomenal player two goals one assist for three points we
Know what he can give you on the offensive side of the ice but more importantly Jake de Brusque with a goal and assist that’s huge because this Bruins team which is call what it is doesn’t have a huge plethora of offensive Talent debrus is signed to a
Pretty good cont contract he’s a top six Winger he needs to start producing like that guy because a lot of the conversation around Jake debrus lately has been wow berson just made him look that good and while berson definitely helped him be a better player the bruss
Does still have a top six Winger skill set he just needed to find his game which recently it looks like he’s starting to another thing that stuck out to me Kevin shaten Kirk two goals on the night some people love him some people hate him on that third pairing but
Nights like this to show he’s got a good offensive upside to him and that’s why the Bruins brought him in that fifth goal thing of beauty pasta over to Marshon marshan over to shaton Kirk now I think Marshon could have just shot that Puck and it would have gone in but
That was such a pretty play it looks like the world isn’t ending and things are starting to round into form grizli skated well in this game while some Bruins fans were doomsday after them struggling for the past few games this is giving you some good signs and I’d be
Remiss not to mention lus Omar played great in this game he made some awesome saves and while he doesn’t have the numbers he had last year you can tell he’s a veset type goenda didn’t play amazing in front of him and that did affect his statistics but man the Bruins got themselves a
Tandem this video is a different style more conversational trying to see if you guys enjoy this because I like doing the play byplay but really talking about the game analyzing it I want to make sure to diversify my content so doesn’t get stale but getting back to the game I
Felt the Bruins were the better team even though the shots on goal were very close now the Devils do have themselves a good roster they came into this one winning three straight we’re starting to build momentum they started off the season pretty cold and I’m not going to
Sleep on this New Jersey Devils team they have too much talent on this roster just to fall off the cliff while they have some questions regarding their goal atending is vanich good enough is Schmid going to be good enough they’re talented everywhere else on their roster and you
You want a bit more production from Team om my I wouldn’t argue that if I’m a devil’s fan but they’re a good squad this isn’t an easy team to beat by any stretch of the imagination and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go back to their winning ways on Wednesday
As for the Bruins the difference between this year’s team in last year’s team yes you have berson and Ki are gone I understand that but due to injury and some departures the decor has been different as well Mason lorai has had his highs and his lows at the NHL level
And watching him in his last few games you can tell he’s starting to feel more confident he’s starting to make less defensive mistakes we as fans have to understand he’s a young defenseman so there’s going to be some moments of Brilliance and then there’s going to be these moments where you’re banging your
Head against the wall like why did you do that because defense is one of the hardest positions to learn at the NHL level that’s why dmen usually take an extra season or two down to the miners to get adjusted to the Pro game and to wrap it up my thoughts on merula he’s
Been tearing it up in the AHL I think very highly of him I think he could be a solid top six guy eventually at the very worst a middle six like a third line guy one game whether he killed it tonight or played awful tonight wasn’t going to
Affect my opinion on him we just have to see how things progress as time goes on I would have liked to see him at the wing if I’m being honest playing Center at the NHL level is very difficult hopefully the Bruins give them another game to see what they got there but I’d
Like to know your thoughts down below what did you think of this game who stood out to you the most I’m captain Paul I’ll see you in the next one
The Boston Bruins beat the New Jersey Devils 5-2 on Saturday night. David Pastrnak would lead the Bruins with 3 points but Jake DeBrusk would have another 2 point night. The Bruins need DeBrusk to start producing far more often. Is this the beginning of a hot streak?

I’ve always loved Jake and it seems like coaches never know how to use him. These new lines need to stay (something that Monty never does and it annoys me beyond end – always changing lines up)
Paul, best of luck to your channel and your great videos in 2024!
You nailed it on D-men. Goalies & D hit their primes later. Aa a "fan" I didn't get it until I began coaching goalies & defense. Very different energy than coaching forwards.
I'm just going to repeat the same thing I've said on Jake debrusk for the last few years – he shows up for training camp, gives us a taste of what he can do in playoffs, then he sort of cruises through the holidays and starts to play in January
It's simply who he is.
Maybe because I was a director of a psychiatric halfway house, with a typical quirky hockey goalie in the family –
I have developed more patience for players like Jake
I think he's going to give a good discount loyalty contract to finish out his career, and we'll be hearing from him shortly, through playoffs
He's like that child that just pisses you off, knowing their potential
and right when you hit the end of your rope? They turn around and impress you in ways you didn't anticipate!
Playoffs, the game speeds up – that might be more his style. He's a fast skater…
He is, who he is!
When I saw Jake DeBrusk’s goal against the Devils, I thought to myself, “if this is our whipping boy, we still have it good” and also I hope that Merkulov stays around for when Poitras comes back from tearing it up with Team Canada in Sweden
The Bruins NEED another quality center. I hope this kid (damn, when did I get OLD!?!) is the answer.
Excellent video! I love the commentary. I can barely keep up with ONE team…not sure how you manage it with multiple teams!?!
Oh, and I 100% agree that the Bruins NEED to see Jake DeBrusk continue to grow/excel.
Happy (and SAFE) New Year's to y'all!!!
