He was scratched because of a drop pass that yes was a blind/hope play that let to the tying goal by fantilli however

Carolina dominates in the first two periods. Leafs make it close in scoring in the third. But it wasn't close. Carolina is a much better, balanced team

This season the Leafs were scheduled to, following preseason play, play games on consecutive days Eastern Time on:
– 10 and 11 November at home against the Flames and Canucks, both Ws (the Flames' one a shootout win)
– 24 and 25 November away against the Blackhawks and Pens (both losses, but 1 point via an OT one)
– 11 and 12 December away against the Isles and NYR, with an OT loss in the 1st and a 7-3 win in the other, improving the Leafs' win-regulation loss-OT loss-shootout loss record in such games from 2-1-1-0 to 3-1-2-0
– 29 and 30 December away and at home to the CBJ and Canes, both losses, with the Leafs' record dropping, in such games, from 3-1-2-0 to 3-2-3-0
– 2 and 3 January respectively against the Kings and Ducks
– 13 and 14 January at home against the Avs and Wings
– 20 and 21 January away against the Canucks and Kraken
– 21 and 22 February against the Yotes and Golden Knights
– 6 and 7 March against the Sabres at home and Bruins away
– 19 and 20 March against the Flyers and Caps away
– 23 and 24 March against the Oilers at home and Canes away
The 5:10 mark features a part about the possibility that Samsonov will get yet ANOTHER start. Yes the upcoming set of games the Leafs must play will be on consecutive evenings Eastern Time but my God should Treliving not have the balls to waive Samsonov in favour of a call-up of Dennis Hildeby, Keith Petruzzelli or Vyacheslav Peksa from the minors, what WILL it take for Treliving to recognize that Samsonov has simply become UNPLAYABLE and is likely to REMAIN so for what remains of this Leafs' season?

This hot mess was created by Dubby. He was smart enough to bail on this creation and run to the fools in Pittsburgh. Shanny goes with this top heavy offense figure skating team. And we have Dubby's coach Keefe who is desperate every game trying to out score teams every night. The back end and goal tending ….. need help. Will we get into the playoffs – sure… exit in the first round…. probably. The fact is it's not a team build to win in the playoffs, so enjoy the season. Maybe it's time to boot Keefe, but the reality is we're in for another disappointing Leafs season!

Yeah Kamph being scratched is why they lost , Kamph has been great on the PK thats why the Leafs have one of the WORST PK records this season that is ranked 21 st in the NHL . MB they lost because Keefe ran the same plays over and over and and Keefe failed to adjust to what the other team was doing , MB Keefe was out coached . NO That cant be it , Everyone here is right KAMPH not being in the line up on the PK is why they lost .

There must be a hIgh school hockey team in Etobicoke or somewhere that could benefit from Sheldon Keefe's wily coaching prowess. If he was trying to wake up his top scorers by scratching Kempf against the 'Canes, then giving up 2 power play goals in the game because their top penalty killer wasn't on hand, was truly a mark of stratospheric intelligence on his part. Perhaps he could have scratched Matthews. The team really rose to the occassion last year when Matthews was injured, or was it because the best penalty killers were playing and not watching from the stands?
The Toronto Maple Leaf's are like Stan Mikita's Chicago Blackhawks, full of talent didn't play as a team and only won one Stanley cup. You build a team from the back end forward.
