I didn’t agree with the Kampf benching – but it’s the NHL. You want to continue playing you can’t give them any reason to bench you.

Babcock benching Spezza has nothing on this. Spezza’s was controversial because of the sentimental value but he didn’t make a difference like this in his game off (penalty kill).

Swapping him out for Holmberg was an insane idea, and it clearly didn’t pay off. Dude had a shitty game and made some mistakes but no much more than 1/2 the damn team. Didn’t earn that bench at all. Just scapegoated.

Kampf is statistically the worst PKer on the Leafs by every metric per Natural Stat trick for what it’s worth.
He got a handsome pay raise by Treliving and he simply hasn’t been good enough. One dime a dozen 4C getting sat for another really isn’t worth blowing things out of proportion like this.

I get accountability and stuff but this was a very winnable game had we had our best pk center. If anything it should’ve been Brodie who got benched imo, Lilli has performed quite admirably on the pk whenever Brodie is out, meanwhile replacing Kampf with Holmberg was never a good idea

I’m starting to think Keefe isn’t the guy. Also, this isn’t new but Shanahan was the issue and not Dubas. Treliving is useless… we fucked ourselves a a mixture of selfishness and pettiness

I haven’t entertained fire Keefe until I heard this. With his constant coaching choices of putting in our worst guys in big pressure moments too scratching Kampf cause Samsonov again let in 5 goals in under 20 shots?
