Place Samsonov on waivers, sign Halak to back up Jones. Between Samsonov’s 3.55 million and Klingberg’s LTIR salary, the Leafs should have a ton of cap space to play with at the deadline
People on twitter putting the blame on Keefer for this loss are insanely dumb. We are playing the Canes tonight there is no way Jones could run a back to back.
Fortunately the leafs can outscore Canes easily. Their goalies are as bad as Toronto’s, but they don’t have any goal scorers. So it’s a win for Toronto. I say 10-4.
Everyone ready to trade Liljegren just know he’s 2 weeks off a high ankle sprain. It took Rielly months, and in my opinion over a year to get his skating back to normal.
Outside of Rielly and Liljegren, every other D is on the wrong side of 30. As good as Benoit and Lag have been, they’re less than a year removed from being in the AHL.
Leafs have 5M in Brodie, and 3.6M in Sammy to use as cap filler in a trade. At 1.6M even if you trade Liljegren you have minimal cap space to bring anyone back. We’re going to need to trade guys like Minten, Cowan, 1st if we want to fix our D.
This has to be the end of the road for Sammy
