The Pittsburgh Penguins did not do enough to beat the Ottawa Senators on Friday night, despite getting a point, and that has Hunter a bit worried. It’s just Hunter for this episode of the Locked On Penguins podcast since Pat is still with the family but he is joined by Nick Horwat to recap the Ottawa game and to get everyone set for the week ahead. They first start with how the Penguins had no excuse to sleepwalk through two periods of play on Friday night and why that’s been a common theme for them this season. They then dive into how not pretty the OT goal was and how the power play continues to go backward after a strong week recently. Should Ryan Graves be put in the press box? The two also get into that along with Rickard Rakell’s performance before finishing the show with a mini preview of the week ahead for this team.

When is coaching going to be a question mark for this team? They’ve been underachieving every year since they last won the cup in 2017. Only one playoff series win since then. Graves was a solid defender with the Devils and now he’s struggling under an offensive system. He’s being used wrong.
I don’t remember the Paul Martin situation being this awful. One step forward, two steps back has been the status quo this year for Graves. It’s not working out. Huge bummer but it happens sometimes. Could he be traded for Adam Lowry? Or better yet, for Connor Garland? Vancouver needs a LD
Rakell scored…………..woooohoooo!!!! Thank goodness 👍🏻👍🏻
Pittsburgh isnt making the playoffs this year.
Sullivan should just put Letang and Crosby on PP1 then Malkin and EK65 on PP2
Nice show boys…lets get em tomorrow on the Island
Everything that was said about Ryan Graves is true. But the same thing defensively could be said for Kris Lang and Erik Karlsson. Those two players get away with it, because of their offense of upside. And they’re very unapologetic about any of the mistakes they make or else they would’ve become better defensive players throughout their career but at this point their career, you could tell that they just don’t care. So I think a lot of that is rubbed off on Ryan Graves. And I’ve said this about the Vancouver Canucks that even though they were a little little suspect on the blue line a couple of years ago they still have a good roster and they need to bring in the proper coaching staff and work with them. I had advocated a few years ago to have Mike Sullivan replace with Rick Tocchet. My main reason for that was the way he was able to work with Kessel. I just felt that that was a really really really big deal and that maybe other people didn’t see that as being that big of deal. When I see where Vancouver is and I see where Pittsburgh is..idk? Also, let’s not let Jim Rutherford off the hook. That guy trained way too many first round for guys like Ryan Reeves, Derick Brassard, Jason Zucker. I am sorry, but those guys are not worth first round picks and prospects. And with those lack of draft picks, I think it’s just kind of caught up with us, which I kind of figured would happen.
