My god yzerman is putting spells on these guys deffo the pat riley from NHL i see vrana really taking the next step with Detroit while I don’t see mantha getting so much better
Yzerman can’t lose the rebuild is gonna be deadly calling it now a decent goalie and Detroit’s prospects can shine such a young core stevey fleeced em hard

I think mantha had something to do with it. Mantha probably went to yzerman and said i dont want to be apart of a rebuild i want to win now and bam he got traded…thats my opinion
I think both teams got what they wanted, because the caps need to win now because they will have to rebuild in few years so they need good players now to win one last Stanley cup before they drop to the bottom of the league, and the red wings have a very bright future getting two young players and two high draft picks. Also the have the GM from the lightening who made that team a powerhouse and now he is trying to do the same thing in Detroit so that they can be good later. Vrana was having some problems with the caps coaching staff being scratched a couple of games and now being traded.
If Ken Holland was still the GM this trade would have gone the opposite way
As a caps fan I'm upset. Ill gladly give Mantha a chance. Vrana wasn't protected for the expansion draft. We would of probably lost em and not got anything for him. Panik was put in there with the picks because no one would pay off the remainder of contract.
Vrana underrated
Wings fans will love vrana's speed No doubt he's definitely top 5 in the league in that category
everyone calls this an overpay but when healthy (and motivated) Mantha has been one of the better wingers in the league. I would be surprised if he's near a ppg in WSH.
Hurts seeing one of the trio go. The Mantha potential is real, wouldn't be shocked to see him go off in Washington

Im excited to see Vrana in detroit, he never really got a chance with washington due to there upfront talent, i think he could turn out like Fabri did where he shines when he actually gets a chance. Also excited to see Mantha with the caps now that hes not pressured and looked at as one of the best forwards on the team like he was
Thank you for Kinda cheering me up after this lol…I'm a die hard caps fan and I Love vrana….he has been key since he made the roster..I'm very sad to see him go but hope he helps turn around Detroits luck.

Caps weren't robbed, its a calculated gamble. Vrana is very inconsistent and has not taken the next step in post season production. There were a lot of high expectations from him after the Stanley Cup run where he was very good, but things kinda fizzled out after that. He plays on the 2nd line with Backstrom and Oshie and for that, he should be a lot more productive since the Caps play their 1st and 2nd line almost interchangeably (not counting the PP). The gamble is basically that Mantha is producing Vrana like numbers in an average Detroit team, he may step his game up with better players around him. The draft picks are a sweetener for Panik as he is a cap dump, the Caps dont need draft picks right now, they need to win in the post season. I like the move, and it freed up around 10+ mil in space for the post season with the Ovi contract looming.

Never bothered to look until now but Mantha actually has a very nice CF% throughout his whole career, even 5v5 (especially considering how bad Detroit has been compared to Washinhton). That was surprising to notice considering he's never been known as a 200ft player
