Are the Jets Stanley Cup Contenders?
I'd like to see us continue to play strong in the new year. We look amazing so far but we've seen this exact story play out last year. Gotta keep playing good hockey down the stretch.
They need a new defenseman and maybe one more guy for depth on offense.
With that being said tho i think they still have a good chance

It's pretty obvious that the Jets will make the playoffs. The emerging questions surround whether we have the strength, grit and longevity to go on a deep run. As you mention, we will likely need a big D , someone like Hanafin, and possibly a tough gritty skilled forward, someone built for the brutality of the playoffs.
Sorry If I'm bursting anyone's bubble here but…
I think everyone should slow down on calling teams this or that at any stage that isn't near or in the playoffs. The season is really long. There are soooo many games. Few teams remain dominant all season and this is a league that thrives on parity that fans of other sports would probably find uncomfortable.
We see rookie goalies win cups, the highest paid analysts predict Damm near everything wrong every year, and we can see last place teams win the cup.
And we as Jets fans have seen a history and pattern of impressive starts and dangerous lows after Christmas break. We've seen this team have bad season finishes losing out on first in their division 3 times by their own failings. We've seen bonkers sweep series to getting swept.
We've seen a team that cannot beat Vegas. They just can't.
We've seen a team that drops the biggest games to teams like Dallas and St Louis. Minnesota has been a nightmare for this team after the 2018 series.
What I'm saying is that this is the same Kool aid drinking hype we get every year. The same story. And somehow this teams repeats it over and over again regardless of coach of personal changes.
It's much much to early to call the Jets a real contender. History shows that this team could easily fall out of the playoffs and all the fans who called them contenders in December will somehow no be surprised they are terrible in March.
If this team can be consistent AFTER the ALL STAR break which is another notorious black hole for the Jets….
