Larry Brooks is a senile moron dinosaur so now you *know* the problem is the goalies.
Jokes aside, this take has never made any sense. Impactful mid-season goalie trades are rare, but that’s just because teams don’t trade great goalies, not because goalies can’t be good after being traded. What is even the point of this article?

We have a ton of good young defensemen including Seamus Casey whos been a monster this year at Michigan…we don’t need an addition we need good coaching for these young players and they aren’t getting it

I love the picture they used is Vitek facing completely the wrong direction. That wasn’t even the first time it happened in that game.
To be fair, Brooks isn’t saying the Devils couldn’t use a new goalie. He’s saying it’s too hard to find one that could make a difference so maybe it’s better to go after defensemen. Sure, could probably use some of those too.

Yea, yea, yea. Brooks was the dummy who opined for the entire first half of last season for the NYR to trade for Patrick Kane and that it would put them over the top once & for all
Better D should help the goalies. I have confidence in the goalies but I am a baffoon so take that in mind.
Go to Money Puck and see where both our goaltenders rank amongst active NHL goalies. Akira is 64th and VV is 78th! Imagine where we would be if we trotted out average NHL goaltenders vs what we trot out now.
Almost like having 10mil in cap space can get you both goaltending and defense if need be.
