  1. During the Hextall and Hakstol era when the Flyers were on a losing streak, a reporter asked Claude Giroux on why the team kept on losing, and Giroux responded by repeatedly saying "I don't know, I don't know". But this current team is figuring out how to win more games now with less excuses.

  2. Bringing those things back. We can't bully like we used to. The tech in the skates and sticks is better, the game is faster, it's a bigger risk to player safety. I was a level 3 usa hockey ref until COVID, I can tell you how much better skates are today. But we shouldn't stray away, we can bully, but we need to do it differently. We need to do it by building a defense so fucking strong, the Ottomans would cower seeing our 4 lines in front of them. That means sticks in lanes, blocking shots, never letting the opposition behind the defense, the real gritty shit. Offense comes from defense. As my old Flyers Cup teammate told me, the best defense is controlling the puck, and putting it their net. Possess the puck, Bedard can't do shit with it. Big hits. The NHL has a culture problem now. Players immediately drop the gloves because someone got knocked off their skates. So how do we change it? When we knock someone on their ass, the entire fucking line starts brawling the minute any of those fuckers make a move on the guy who delivered the hit. There's a time and place for everything, and that's where Old Time Hockey lives.
