Same thing that happened with Tom Bradyās retirement. Iāve always thought media people should let players announce their own retirements instead of breaking it.

Media even doing that bare minimum of work matching team needs is still miles better than reading this team is interested in this good player regardless of fit or anything. Now if those articles include what a deal could look like give that writer an award š¤¦āāļø

Really appreciate your comments on hitting. It has felt like guys donāt want to hit, or have been afraid of the penalty / suspension. A hard hit feels unusual.

I agree about the media blackout comment. I live an area where there are several teams. I can't afford to travel to their locations never the less pay to attend a game. Cost is too much for me. I think the game would be better if they limited the hitting. It has became more about skill than hulking players on the ice, Tom Wilson for one. They are not gladiator's. Hockey players careers might last longer. It is becoming a game of attrition, who has enough players to make to to the finals.
Vegas is doing their own thing, and it is terrible. Not the broadcastā¦ that is fine. Just actually getting it. The over the air channel is only accessible to about 1/2 of the city, and the āpay for appā is full of glitches. A VPN paired with PLUS is the only way to fly.

yeah esp as a Canadian where the two major networks (TSN and Sportsnet) both have multiple networks. What they could and imo should do is TSN 1 and 4 ur have the Toronto games for all Toronto fans. if ure a Leafs fan that's where u go for that game. IF ur a habs fan TSN 2 and 3 AND then for the Sens tsn 5 of course this is only if all 3 teams are on at the same night/time but I do find it frustrating as a Leafs fan who lived in Ottawa for a few years that because of my location im not allowed to watch the Leafs on the same night the Sens are playing and sometimes even if the Sens arent playing that night I still cant see the Leafs play.

Bring back nhl live! It worked so much better for me than sportsnet now + let us choose which broadcast we watch as well. As an la kings fan I Liked when it was Faust and fox my wife and I thought it was great. Jim fox explains things like your a timbit but it always works for her as a newer fan. I donāt understand scratching Kuzmenko just as heās been hitting the back of the net again. Multiple healthy scratches mean the coaching staff is killing ANY momentum Kuzmenko was beginning to generate. Doesnāt make sense to me.
Why doesnāt the NHL use the nfl model and broadcast all the games they can and have the commercials pay for it?
While we are talking about RSN's, earlier this week it was announced that the Mariners of MLB will buy the other half of the ownership stake of Root Sports (Seattle's RSN) that is currently owned by Warner Bros Discovery due to WBD wanting to be totally out of the RSN business. This means that the Mariners will have total control of Root Sports beginning January 1st & might mean the Kraken will have to find a new TV home for next season should the Mariners decide to end the contract. I think if this happens, the Kraken will end up on local over the air TV similar to how Vegas & Arizona currently are.
The other night on the Rangers broadcast, they were showing highlights of Will Cuylleās play so far in that game and every clip was him making a hit and Joe Micheletti saying āthatās not a hit in Toronto apparentlyā
So I do think itās a recording issue and less so a actuality
I watched a YouTube channel where almost all the comments were about the lack of hitting and fighting. To the point were they thought hockey was a joke now. Who wants to bring back the Broad Street Bullies???? š

Colorado does their own regional broadcast with Altitude and the biggest complaint about that is the issues with local blackouts and disputes with coming to agreement on broadcasting rights. I have Comcast but canāt watch the games because thereās no contract in place. I have to stream and hope that their internet service doesnāt have any issues that night. Canāt watch on ESPN+ because of blackouts.
Couldnāt agree more with you Shannon! Iām in California and Iām a Kings fan, but I go to school in Virginia. Last year I realized Ballyās does the region blackoutsā¦ very frustrating!

Getting rid of enforcers has reduced fighting in the NHL to maybe one a game. Having players chase after guys who just cleanly hit one of their teamates will then have the effect of removing both fighting AND hitting out of the league. I notice in the boxscores of most games that sometimes you won't have more than two or three penalties. Now imagine if the NHL went back to the dead puck era as well, what would there be left? You might as well bring in figure skating judges to determine the games. The skill in hockey has never been better, but one day soon, the NHL should sit down with all stakeholders and try to figure out the right way to go forward. Maybe they already have. Sigh.

Re blackouts: I live in Southern Alberta and it drives me nuts that the Jets are blacked out here. It makes 0 sense!
I would say that hitting is definitely not getting recorded correctly cause if you watched the rangers v leafs on the msg broadcast they showed at least 3 hits that Cuylle made that werenāt recorded as hits so idk
