For the people complaining about fights after hits. Its just so creative always regurgitating the same line other people say every time. Fights break out for what looks like no reason occasionally so why can't something spark a fight> Does it really have to only be dirty hits that are allowed to begin a fight? Now I will say cases where a guy gets mugged by a crowd after a clean hit and dragged around until they are coerced into a fight is something I wish wasn't the norm. In this case however Hagel isn't jumping him; He's not using slashes, throwing crosschecks. He literally just gets in Barbashev's face and asks for a fight. He even allows Barbashev to get his glove off. Also there was some physicality from both teams throughout this game after starting with what did seem like a dirty hit pretty early on. So no he doesn't actually get up high or anything on this one, but it was clearly enough to spark something. Isn't the ability to fight why hockey is so different? The biggest thing I don't understand is the lack of logic in calling someone soft for fighting. Like when a player is turtling after making a dirty play that sparks an altercation, that is soft. which is to show a lack of toughness or be timid. In a situation like this if one did want to express their dislike for starting fights over what is, in the observer's eyes at least, an undeserving matter, then they should probably use a more accurate term like melodramatic for example since overreacting fits much better than being timid. If someone defaults to soft instead of trying to use a better fitting word, I find it safe to assume their opinions fall victim to the ad populum fallacy and are hard to give any credence to.
