  1. I haven't turned on him. It's just puzzling. I thought maybe he can only be a good player on a bad team, but San Jose was pretty good in 18-19 and he even had a decent playoff run that year, numbers wise (20 games, 15 points).

It really seems like a confidence problem, and that should be fixable. Don't forget, something similar happened with Haula last year, except Haula was making a lot less money and wasn't actually expected to score. Now, we wouldn't want to do without Haula. Give him more time. This whole team is still trying to find itself in some ways.

  2. Nah. I want to see how he does with an actual coach or system in place. I don't see how he goes from 40 goals to this in the span of less than a year. Ruff has no idea what he's doing and looks absolutely lost on the bench when the team doesn't score 3+ goals a game

  3. He's playing like He's being hampered by something. We never got a clear answer for his injury. Im not letting buyer's remorse in just yet

  4. CJ's great. I think it's both an injury he's still dealing with as well as a confidence issue. I also don't think Lindy's constant line shuffling has helped his cause. Hopefully, he can turn his season around and finish strong.

  5. NJD Coaching has not been able to figure this out and Timo is just not fitting in spectacularly yet. I think in general he's probably a better fit on a team where he's not overshadowed by so many elite shooters. But, his attitude does look solid he's not at 100% physical power right now. I think if he's healthy and we have injuries with Jack or Jesper, he might naturally step up and shine. He's a good body crasher and no matter what, we have to give him time to get it. We gave Jack 2 years to get it and it was definately worth it.

  6. He’s definitely still injured. I remember reading somewhere when he wasn’t skating that it was his foot which can’t be easy to play thru. Give the guy a chance to recover, once he gets healthy he will contribute. I also think constant shuffling of lines is not helping especially when he likes to play on the right and he gets put on the left for half the games.

  7. It certainly does not help that we got such a good deal on Jack, putting a lot more pressure on Timo to perform. It also doesn't help how people view him with how offensively gifted the rest of the team is. However, as other have said here, I'm not giving up on Timo just yet.

I agree with what Danny said over at the Devils Puck Luck Podcast. Timo's physicality is beastly when he's at full strength, but he's severely hampered when he's possibly nursing any sort of injury.

Really think removing Timo prematurely would hamper the team's morale. Now I'm no doctor so I don't want to guess at his recovery, but I'm really praying for the Timo revenge arc sooner than later.

  8. I haven't turned on Timo. Hockey seasons have ebbs and flows, right now he's ebbing…can't wait for him to start to flow!!! lol That said, I know the +/- metric is not as important to hockey execs as it once was, but his +/- is scary.

  9. I’d say not yet. I really think something is going on with his last injury. TBH, to some degree I feel like Ruff isn’t utilizing him properly. Also, call me crazy but the last several games he was hardly getting the puck passed to him.

  10. Not yet. But I probably have a lot more patience than some – for better or worse.

He's having a down year. He's probably not 100%. Certainly no where near what's expected of him at his cap hit and track record. The outrage is warranted. But I have faith he'll figure it out here – even if it takes a full year of training camp/season/and God willing another playoffs at this point.

I think, as long as he's healthy, his physical presence will shine AGAIN when the game gets tough in April. He had a good playoff last yr, just didn't end up on the scoresheet. But he still had an impact that no one else on the roster was providing.

Hope he turns it around soon.

  11. Biggest problem I have is that he was acquired to be the missing piece on a line with Jack or Nico. So the team should put him there and keep him. Also give him 1st PP mins.

Toffoli has been great but I'd much rather see the guy we just signed for 8 years on the top line instead of the guy that probably isnt going to be here next season.

  12. I think he’ll come together over time.

That being said, My Father and I watched him finish a hit on Sunday and my dad said he hit him like he was a marshmellow.

Id honestly like to see him get some time with mcleod and lazar on the 4th line to see if he can put in some simple, basic work. Get physical and get some dirty goals

  13. I feel like people are so quick to be negative . These trolls are so dramatic ! I think Timo is great and is just in a slump at this time. Let’s not go crazy and we’ll see his numbers at the end of the season 😈 Let’s go Timo 🤘

  14. Not for nothing. I'm born and raised in nj. Been a Yankee/Devils for life (30years) and I've learned. Talking shit about your own players does not get them out of a slump.

  15. What’s with all this timo is playing hurt?? He is playing! And he isn’t producing and he is getting paid to produce. He looks like a 4th line on the second line.

  16. You are crazy. To say goaltending is the only problem with this team is reductive at best. Timo hasnt been scoring and he hasnt been doing the other stuff he is paid for either. So if hes going to be taking up a roster slot, 12% of the cap, and accomplish less than nothing, maybe he should sit out and get whatever medical attention he needs. Worst case he goes on LTIR and we accrue additional cap space.

  17. a BUST! Has to be traded for anything! The money available from trading must be used on a goalie and a D-man!

  18. Just because Lindy can’t figure out the lines I’m going to give him until the end of the season. Lindy needs to go, he is single handily the plague that is holding the team back. No one rally’s around him he’s just a PR stunt.

  19. a simple question. If he is injured, why is he playing?)) You guys are just funny as fuck))

  20. Dude has had some of the easiest opportunities if he just hits it on net but he keeps sending them slow and wide, I counted 3 against Anaheim

  21. I agree with everything you said in the video. He’s clearly not himself atm, and maybe it is something that he is nursing. There are some Devils fans that always complain. To be fair, there are some expectations right, but EVERY season is not going to go the way you want. Timo is going to be fine.

  22. I think he's hurt, and being utilized poorly. Watch his 2022-2023 goals, I feel like it's A LOT of one timers, a lot of play down low, a lot of goals on the power play.

  23. Two hits in his last 8 games… not only is he not putting up points… dude’s gone soft. My man has to collect his paycheck with a gun and ski mask

  24. I'm almost at that point with turning on Timo. I think part of it is injury related, so I'm willing to give him more time, but his start this year has been disappointing relative to what was expected of him.

  25. I appreciate that you are trying to give a measured view of Timo, but I think it is fair to say that he has been a bust so far. Last year, the argument was that he was "learning the system" and "how to fit in." This year, we are saying that he is injured (although he didn't look great prior to the injury). My counter-argument is Tyler Toffoli. From the first game of the season, he has made an impact, both in terms of stats and by way of the eye test. Even when he is off his game, like right now, you can see his skill and his menace on the ice when the puck comes to him. When have we seen that with Meier? Yes, in the Rangers series he got under their skin and did a lot of things that didn't show up on the scoresheet, but in the Carolina series he was underwhelming and missed some key scoring opportunities. We are still waiting to see Timo's star power and learn if he really is a game changer. I am willing to wait, especially if he is playing through a bad injury, but I am starting to wonder if his cap hit could have been better spent on landing some physical, defense-first defensemen or of course on a goalie.

  26. I've been pretty vocal about my own criticisms of Timo but for better or worse he committed to the team for the next 8 years so hopefully this ends up being some of the worst time of his tenure here. I like most people do want him to be successful (at least I hope that's still the case), but dropping 20% skating speed is significant and it obviously shows so I'm not sure having him in a top 9 role right now is really helping him and his healing along or the team to be successful either so it's not a great situation for anyone. I think Graham Clarke is having another pretty successful season in Utica, it might be worth giving him a look in the bottom 6 in the interim.

The other thing I will say in Timo's defense is that he like Holtz (moreso last year) seems to be falling victim to Ruff's line shuffling. It takes more than a game or two to develop chemistry. While I get trying to generate offense by changing up the lines, I don't know that that always needs to be the answer to help the Devils to win a game when they're struggling, but it seems to be the go-to strategy every time. Once again, we just extended Ruff as well, so for better or worse, that's what we have for now.

  27. Worst player on the ice game after game we can make a entire video of him turning picks over that immediately lead too a goal against he’s a great player he needs to be better for 8.8

  28. I swear to god if I see another one of these vids. LEAVE TIMO ALONE! All people talk about are “Timo this Timi that” leave him alone. There shouldn’t be any blaming, especially when routing for the same team. If anything blame the coaches. Pisses me off
