With the Goaltending in Edmonton still in question, Carter Hutton joined Frank Seravalli & Tyler Yaremchuk to share his analysis on the situation between the pipes.
Skinner is a great backup, but average starter. If Edmonton want's to win, they need an A++ Goalie that can make those Big saves, because 29 and 97 they are trying to do defense at the expense of offense resulting in them being combined -7 for the year. Their skill may be 5% better offensively vs their opponent, but 6% worse on defense. In this league, that's the difference.
We need to give a big shout out to the Oilers management team for their progress in lousing up yet another goalie and quite possibly ruining his career. Well done, lads! You are truly in another league when it comes to managerial incompetence.
Devan Dubnyk, Cam Talbot and now Skinner.
Stuart Skinner was never one who was being touted as a star in waiting but he does (did?) have the makings of a pretty decent goalie on a decent enough team provided his development was properly handled and he was given the right support. But of course, he had the grave misfortune to have been drafted by his hometown team; who couldn't manage two socks into a pair to save their freakin' lives, and now, in his 2nd f*cking year, he's expected to be "The Guy" on a team that can't score beyond the 2 or 3 star forwards and a defense you could sail a supertanker through and he's being excoriated because he can't. Wow; he must be so excited!!
If this keeps up, he'll be following 97 and 29 out the door and who could blame him?
WOW YOU PEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ANALYSTS, THE DEFENCE OF THE TEAM IS SO NOT THERE , OBVIOUSLY THEY CANT KEEP THERE MINDS ON A 200 FT GAME, THAT MEAN OFFENSE AND DEFENCE, YES THEY NEED A NO.1 GOALIE SKINNER IS GOOD A COUPLE GAMES THEN TANKS, THE SAME FOR FORWARDS AND DEFENCE, CONCENTRATE ON DEFENCE, THE OFFENSE WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF
If we want a goalie we need draft one……..Also Leon has proved he cannot drive his own line, he is a complimentary player a specialist on the PP. We need to move him to the wing.
