What a difference a couple of weeks make. I honestly still think he is a money goaltender, one who could very well lead the Pens to more Cups before he’s done.

Think some of the stupid Murray not being good comments had to do with losing fan favorite fleury in the expansion draft and watching him go to the finals. Some people r just dumb.
You're that guy that constantly states but but but "He won 2 Stanley Cups" and completely ignore the fact that Marc Andre Fleury played in 5 Stanley Cup Finals and took an expansion team to the Finals. Crosby and Malkin won't be here for 15 more years. The time for the team to win the cup was/is now, not 15 years from now. That is why some Pittsburgh fans hate on Murray. Pittsburgh doesn't have time for growing pains in the Crosby era.

You egregiously tend to loop in the Matt Murray hype train pens fans as just generally “pens fans” and you hate the pens for it
Glove that rests halfway covering his leg pad, way too low. Lemieux would have had a field day scoring glove hand on Murray.
At the time, I said, and say again, Murray needs the competition to excel-competing against Fleury will keep you sharp, or you will be sitting. That is why I think Deshields is the key to the PENS season. Murray does not thrive with a lot of work (unlike some other goalies). Deshields needs to compete for the number one spot, and then Murray will help through the playoffs.
Too many odd man breaks and loose defense in front of him, and that is not playoff hockey. When they won it was D FIRST, breakout out and O pressure.

Watching this in retrospect 2019/2020. I think we might see Pitt in the same situation as the Vegas draft with Seattle in 2021. They will have to decide to protect Jarry or Murray or risk losing someone like Rust, who I really would hate to see go. Deja Vu. Hopefully Jarry continues at his pace and Murray returns to form.
Matt Murray is from my home town of Thunder Bay Ontario and because of that I am routing for him. I think he is a great goalie, I like him more then other Thunder Bay Goalies, Mackenzie Blackwood and Carter Hutton.
Exactly, to have a proven playoff goalie is so valuable. You know he knows what it takes to win a Cup. Matt has the right resilient attitude for a goalie.
You peg it right calling goalies, whole nother animal. I always think it's a matter of work, some goalies get shell shocked, lose positioing thinking spectacular save necessary, again. The team defense and defense first attitude was lost after The last Cup. Some of those breakdowns are egregious, NHL talent is capable of cashing in odd man breaks against ANY GOALIE.
The quickness and flexibility is there, durability can affect any player. The PENS need a tandem and Matt can be part of that, if he gets another Cup fans will love him and he will drink free in Pittsburgh for the rest of his life.
Simple answer. He “replaced” fanboy favorite MAF. The “fans” of Pittsburgh will never get over it, no matter how many cups Murray brings or his GAA and Save%
People have no patience these days. Pittsburgh actually have had a succession of decent goalie prospects, always seem to be looking for the next starter. Old man Murray could be the Penguins goalie for a decade, but you've gotta be patient. He's suffering from his early success. He ain't Ken Dryden and Pittsburgh ain't the 1975 Canadiens.

Murray held Washington to 2 goals or less in 3 games and only had one bad game. Ottawa is a joke and they blame Murray and if you ever watched Ottawa's D you'd laugh at that one
Here 4 years later. Shannon, I still think your opinion when you made this video still applies. He has been a proven performer in the playoffs. If Leafs find a way to get the most out of both Murray/Samsonov they’ll cruise into playoffs this year. I think Murray is the guy in the playoffs that the Leafs have needed all these years. They don’t need him for much of the 82 reg season games. even if he’s going through injuries throughout the year as has been the case consistently since you made this video it’ll be fine. It’s about the playoffs. Even in the 19/20 season, he was rather “meh” during the regular season. In the bubble playoffs he was good on his 3 games started. They shouldn’t have changed goalies in game 4. The game 3 collapse was not on Murray. He’s still only 27. Let’s see what he can do in front of the same type of fire power as he had early in his career. Also, your old content still stands up, never change man!
