GAME RECAP: Penguins at Maple Leafs (12.16.23) | Last Stop Of The Dad’s Trip

For the third and final game of the dad’s trip, the Pittsburgh Penguins traveled to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs. From the drop of the puck, it was rough sailing for the Penguins. Pittsburgh took a total of 10 penalties throughout the game. Getting into a grove was not an option for the flow of this game. Toronto first struck only a few minutes into the game and kept the pressure coming. Matthew Knies, Mitchell Marner, and Bobby McMann all had a goal in the 1st. That trend continued in the 2nd period. Max Domi, John Tavares, and Noah Gregor all also getting goals of their own. By the end of the 2nd Toronto led 6-0. The 3rd period was the least penalized and this allowed the Penguins to create some chances around the Toronto net. Unfortunately, the Maple Leafs were the ones who scored again. The final goal of the game was scored by William Nylander to bring Toronto’s total to 7 goals.

  1. Just had a feeling when I saw the 'flu notice. Still wasn't expecting to check in and see 6-0 (at the time). Know they were the weaker team, but still…

  2. The leafs had 3 shots less than the pens but had 22 high danger chances. Where as the pens had 38 shots and only 11 high danger chances. It’s hard to win games like that

  3. no defence now. too many second chance shots for Leaves. Jarry made no bad play today. Nedeljkovic can not decide this problem

  4. Amount of superstars on the team and ZERO defense? Not from them, not from the help? 7, 7, 7, 7??!?!!!?! If you make the playofs at all i'll be surprised, but it seems to me that the Boston deal is now showing us that it was wrong to SELL THE TEAM
