Cale Makar is now out in concussion protocol for the second time this season, and there was no call on the play that led to it. Yet the very next night the same type of play happened and it was a blatant penalty. Why was there no call on Toropchenko?

Toropchenko should get a 5 minute major for but ending or get jumped later, or someone should go but end kyru.
To me, the Makar one is accidental and not a "high stick" or "butt end". Can't see if the butt end made contact, but even if it did, it wasn't intentional. Players are "hit" by the butt ends of sticks all the time. It's when you weaponize it that it becomes a penalty. I don't blame Makar, just bad luck.
I hate to see Makar out, he's one of the top 5 NHL players. But he was crouching low, going for a check while Fox was playing the puck. Fox shouldnt expect to get smacked while Makar should expect contact.
