As a kings fan I knew we overpaid him both in the trade and his contract extension
Grav I love ya…but man you're expecting too much out of Dubois. He's just not that guy!
Vilardi had one good game, and while I won't discredit his value and potential, the two players are in completely different positions. Dubois is playing on the 3rd line, and getting less overall minutes than Vilardi is, and despite his numbers being suboptimal, his play hasn't been that bad.
Both Kupari and Vilardi have missed significant time, and Iafallo has been okay, but nothing crazy. Vilardi has also played with more experienced and skilled players, which has no doubt helped. LA needed to ship players out, while also reinforcing their center depth, and they did that perfectly.
I don't think either team lost this trade. I believe both teams got exactly what they needed, and considering where both teams sit at in the standings, I'd say that much is true.
Win for jets? Lmao vilardi has been injuried all season 😂😂😂😂 the other pieces aren’t very good and wouldn’t be starting over what they have.

Kings are near top of standings and most of the assets are either injured or not relevant. Vilardi outside of last year has always had injury history
I'm still mad at PLD for pretending to be interested in the Canadiens just so the Quebec media would talk about it non-stop.
Dubois is Huberdeau 2.0. Got his big contract and stopped caring… he doesn't even show up. GMs should stop handing out 8 year deals like they're candy.
Once arviddson comes back dubois will be playing with better wingers and I think his offensive numbers will look better. He’s been solid if you watch the games but just not producing offensively.
The problem with Vilardi is that he already has so many injuries at such a young age
Nathan. Thank you for reading my mind. That's what I've been saying, however, PLD is good & I'm pretty sure that he's going to bounce back, once he gets on pace with his new team. It was quite obvious that they'd (Winnipeg Jets) would win the trade, since it was so many of LAK Players going to Winnipeg – Let me know what you think

I mean yeah it Gabe lit us up but things to remember
1 Gabe is on the first line with “no offense to our guys” better players, compared to PLD who is on the 3 third line with a rookie, Gabe should have more points.
2 we got him cuz he’s a big guy, look at him compared to Gabe or Alex, Gabe as much as I love him has been injure prone and.
3 the MAIN reason we traded what we did was because we where too log jammed, we had to clear up some space for our other guys.
He makes me think of Alexandre D’Aigle
The great thing about Iafallo is he can play on any line. His game translates to all lines. Guys a Swiss Army Knife.

LA has just roped themselves into 7 1/2 more years of a second-third liner for $8.5M. I see 7 years of cap trouble left for LA.
dmitri kuzmin plays for the norfolk admirals and i think he gonna be something special in the top 4 for the jets. also thomas milac i could see him being a number one guy in the future. he also plays for the admirals. im glad to see them develop

Post signing slump is real. He should get to a point per game for LA eventually. But as a fan of the Jets so far this trade looks awesome
Just getting rid of Dubois was a win. Now add the players. 🤷🤷
Chevy did an excellent job with this trade. The Jets are a very deep team with many interchangeable players, so can fill in for injury and not lose a beat.
Player for Player, I'm inclined to choose Vilardi too. Problem is Glass Vilardi is way too injury prone. And it's not like a knee that you rebuild, have surgery and move on from. He has lingering back injuries and we know those will always flare up, as they have the past 2-3 years over and over again It's a shame, but as talented as he may be, you're just going to have to plan around Vilardi being on IR 30% of the season. So the KIngs overpaid for PLD (who's looking like a total flop), but Vilardi is just talented enough to demand a 6-7 Mil contract himself next year, and you're going to be lucky if plays half of it.
I'll consider this trade a wash.
The issue the Kings had with Vilardi wasn't about skill. It was always about consistency. He cant stay healthy and would not bring his A game every night. They also may have wanted a center and Vilardi was panning out as more of a winger. I love Vilardi but I can see why LA did what they did. Keep in mind Dubois is playing with Carl Grundstrom and Alex Laferriere. Hold judgement til we see him play with actual talent and see vilardi play with consistency.
Why do people seem surprised by this? I think many hockey fans with some knowledge saw PLD declining before the trade even happened
Iafallo getting paid $4M and he's pointless in his last 13 games while in his prime at age 29. Vilardi looked great last night, but his production this year has been disheartening outside of this one game while he's being paid $3.8M for the next two years as a pending RFA. Kupari has also been invisible since joining the team. Ultimately, this looks like a trade where both teams lost, but LA lost bigger because they're stuck with an albatross contract and gave up what will probably end up being an early 2nd round pick.
Hahaha LA Kings just did something no other team has ever done in the 107 year history of the NHL and that is win 11 straight games on the road to start the season. Now what are you saying about who won the trade?
Dubois does make Kings crazy deep down middle,and record Kings have is part of this.Little to early to be down on Dubois.
I can’t wait for Kupari to recover and give opposing teams fits with his speed on the forecheck. That’s gotta be his M.O. Very hard to play against a missile like him and he’s forth line? I think he’s gonna develop into a solid third line guy.
Im just curious what was Montreal’s offer to make LA overpay for Dubois that much in the trade.
The contract looks brutal because he is on the 3rd line and not producing atm, but 8.5 isn’t extremely overpaid for a 60 points player, which he isn’t right now.
Still the Kings are doing extremely well for themselves without him doing much, if he ever wakes up, it won’t be good news for the rest of the league.
You got two middle 6 forwards and a bottom six forward… pretty solid pick up….PL isn't a bust or anything like that. Let's talk in a year.

Dubois was a pretty cool dude while in Winnipeg. But I think he likes the benefits that come with hockey , vs a guy like Shiefele or Perfetti who LIVE for hockey. So I wonder if “making Dubois happy” means he is more distracted with the beach, nightlife etc. It’s kinda like a kid who wants to eat pop tarts for breakfast lunch and dinner. He might get what he wants, but it will be bad for him in the long run

Im gonna bring the dissenting voice from a Kings fan perspective; regardless lf losing 2 really good players, our lines make more sense now.
Dubois has been playing better than his stats show, as his underlying numbers are pretty good actually
And, the trade was always about the playoffs. We'll see how he plays then, i think he still needs more time to get comfortable and find the linemates he plays best with.
He was playing with Kyle Connor last year, hes not getting to play with Kempe right now. So we'll see! Maybe the Kings break up their second line soon and let PL play with Trevor Moore soon, maybe he and Fiala get paired back up actually get time to figure each others games out.

As a jet fan I loved this trade..the balance n depth has pushed the jets into a top 10 team n with a great goaltender have a legit chance to get to the western finals..in 2 years pld will demand a trade to Montreal..good player but has quit on every team since he was 17..addios
