Steven Stamkos Injury Against Bruins

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos left his team’s game against the Boston Bruins on a stretcher with 7:11 remaining in the second period Monday at TD Garden.

Stamkos slid into the right post at the Lightning’s side of the ice after some contact with Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton, and the Tampa Bay star seemed to slam his right leg into the post.

Stamkos attempted to get up, but then fell back down and punched the ice several times with his right fist before he was attended to by medical personnel.

  1. Surprised that the Boston fans clapped.  When Raymond had a spinal injury they started booing him.

  2. It really didn't look like a bad play, its not like his knee buckled along the post…still hope he recovers quickly…

  3. Pacrioetty, Raymond now Stamkos, keep walking the line Boston, don't bitch the day it comes back and bites you.

  4. I'm surprised the Boston fans didn't chant "flopper" like they did when M. Raymond broke his back there several years ago..hope for a speedy recovery! #91

  5. didn't really look THAT bad on the 1st slow motion @ 0.48 mark. worse on the overhead view @ 1:36 mark. hopefully it's just a "simple" tibia bone break NOT requiring surgery and he will be back in time for the Olympics or sooner. was tied for lead in points with Penguins Sidney Crosby @ 23 and Goals with Blues Alex Steen with 14. HUGE loss for the Lightning AND the NHL

  6. Coming from a bruins fan, I hate to see this happen. But the bruins did not do anything to cause this injury. Stankos did not have very good body position and should not have fallen. He was leaning on dougie hamelton and douglie is definitly not the strongest bruin.

  7. he tried to get up and skate, it looked like him put some pressure on the leg. Did that make the injury worse?

  8. poor guy. this is why i love hockey. tough sport. I'd blow my head off if that was me. I admit I have no balls for this type of stuff.
