Campbell has to go, for our sake and for his own. Whoever and whatever is to blame, the fit for him here is just not right and at this point, it's highly doubtful if it ever will be. He may go somewhere else and do fine but that clearly isn't going to happen here. He and the Oilers need to move on from each other.
As to returns, I have always been in the camp that says cap space, in itself, IS a legitimate return in a trade. If we had to give up a prospect and a pick to get Campbell's entire cap hit off our books, that to me, is a legitimate trade. It's like getting to unmake a mistake, pretend it never happened and move on and anything at all we get back beyond cap space is just icing on the cake.
I say we work out the best deal we can and if there is no goalie coming back in the deal, that's OK. The two things don't have to happen at the same time. Pickard is playing well enough for the moment that we don't have to be in a panic and if Roddy is doing well down on the farm, so much the better.
8 game winning streak against teams that are on the back end of a 2 game night so they are tired and another being the worst team in the nhl. Let's see them continue vs teams that are actually good and not tired.
Its really hard to believe that Gretzky era records for wins etc are possibly being broken. He(and the whole team) were so obviously above the competition that in this era of salary cap, any records broken are even that much more impressive.
Jack is a nice guy, but I kinda don't care…we are clearly better off without him. @ 5million per year and can't even be a good ahl goalie…I'd say his career is pretty much over

Getting rid of Jack Campbell is the best move. The Oilers are red hot right now, bringing Campbell back to the NHL and playing him could ruin that if he has more bad games. Besides, being so close to a playoff spot, you want your best goalies playing and right now it’s Skinner and Pickard, both are playing great.

If so, they would ask for DraisatL in the deal.. or 2024 1st rd pick from Oilers?? the GM just severly handcuffed what was a golden oppty for 4 attempts at the Cup. It seems wise to severly oversee any scouting or implse moves the GM may try going fwd…. GM just looking for a payoff and accolades.. but will have no responsibility – so best to remove him. He is already removed $2mil this yr & next from cap for Neal, screwed team out of $3m from cap from next yr …. to desperately secure Brown as the hoped for scoring touch that would all 2 top6 lines – and tied up $4.2m in McLeod (2yrs) – and kicked bigger bottom 6 of Kostin & Bjugstad out — so caution on his moves…
Hopefully Erne never sees the ice again with Gagner,Ryan & Hamblin holding down those spots for the rest of the season. I don’t get why the Oilers aren’t playing Rodrique more instead of Campbell? He’s done with the Oilers and everyone knows that so play the kid and get him as much action as possible in case of injury to the big club. Stauffer said he wouldn’t be surprised if the Oilers gave him a few games this year with the way he’s playing lights out on the farm. 9 in a row let’s go Oilers!
I throw up a little every time anybody talks about future goalies for Edmonton, considering how they absolutely blew grabbing Jesper Wallstedt and took Xavier Bourgault instead! He just turned 21 and played in the AHL All Star game his first season as a pro!
