Slaf is way too good for 19. Like actually. The fact that he still has so much development ahead of him is insane. I was hating a little on the kid for his low point totals but man now he looks like a maybe future 100+ point guy like Thompson.
Sabres has all those talents, but can't put it together. Looks like heading towards the bottom of their division again. So much optimism and opportunity but cannot deliver. Gloom and doom are taking over.

Slaf was a beast tonight, he won almost every puck battle, using the body like crazy, defensively sound. A fight, an almost goal, then the game winner. All the “Slaf is a bust” people are eating crow right now.
I was slowly giving up on Slaf, but games like tonight show there’s hope yet. Now if he can keep improving and show consistency, we’ve got something.

During regular play he looks like a bust, he’s big but can’t win a puck battle against smaller players. No zip to his game
I know its how pro sports is, but Slafkovsky being considered a bum or bust at 19 years old was always wild. Same with Lafrenière and even Kakko who, admittedly, is struggling the most but is still only 22. I know you can often project careers based on the first few seasons, but still its just wild how the statements aren't like "based on past metrics it seems like this prospect might not pan out to be exactly as good as earlier predicted" and instead is "this person sucks and his family should be ashamed".
