I think this is a good time for Bettman to immediately invoke a new rule (as instantaneous as when Avery's shenanigans on Brodeur were outlawed the very next day). The new rule would allow a player deemed to be shooting at an another player, with an intent to injure, be banned for a huge part of the season – to be used at the discretion of the commissioner. The rule would be such that the suspension could be invoked at the mere belief that the intent was there.

Lauzon, from what I can remember, has just had it really rough in his career. From what I can remember as a bruins fan, in Nashville's 5-0 loss against boston, Lauzon own goaled twice. And, when the Bruins lost to the islanders, he would make a pass that would bounce off a skate blade that led to a casey cizikas breakaway in overtime. Poor guy.
Ah, two teams that fancy themselves playoff contenders – the difference being that one is realistic about their chances, and one is not. The Lightning may not realize it, but when a team like Nashville can lay a whoopin' on you like this, your window has closed. Unless Vasy goes God Mode, I think they'll struggle to make the playoffs…
And like every other moron who posted this I'll ask you the same question. What is a defenseman supposed to do on a PP when he's about to wind one up and there are players in front of the net that don't know a shot is coming and they might get hurt?
