Well….it helps that 2 of last nights goals were shorties against so those are discounted from the 5v5 lol

Wheels fell off last night. It happens.

They probably chalk that to goaltending statistically but also 1 game doesn’t affect you that bad when you’ve played 24

One thing that I will say about the Wings’ defense is that even though it’s leaky and often rough around the edges, they seem to be pretty good at blocking chances from the slot and stopping rushes to the net from inside the offensive zone.
I’ve seen a lot of plays this year where they force the opponents to play from the edges and swarm guys who get into the slot very quickly and effectively to take the puck away from them or prevent a shot.
Obviously that didn’t count for much last night, but there are still some bright spots to the defense even though it’s inconsistent and falls victim to the occasional collapse lol

They played with fire recently and finally got burned, but at least they still got a point. I’d love to see a complete effort instead of i) starting late and then fighting to get back into the game or ii) grabbing an early lead and then pissing it away in the 3rd. I have to believe this is something they’re at least trying to address. The stakes are higher now. Gotta learn how to close out a game if you want to do more than just maybe make the playoffs.

Tampa being that low is like a fever dream.

If our shot against quality is so terrible (for the shooters) at 5v5, isn’t that just more of an indictment against our goaltending?

Last night broke my soul. I can’t blame Husso entirely, but god damn…The moment Fabs missed that empty net, I knew…I just knew. I can’t even watch OT anymore.
So JT out and Kaner in threw off the lines a bit. They had a nice chemistry going over the last 6 games. Kane had to get in though. I noticed he wasn’t going full on, which is to be expected…Also his passing…I think he was relying on muscle memory. Timing was a bit off, but once he finds his groove, those unassuming wrist flick passes will find tape.
Two shorties in that powerplay was like Campbell fake punting on their own 20. Crushers.
Good to see Raz putting out some shine last night…I was thinking he’d be sitting if JT wasn’t injured.
I don’t know what to think of husso…He’s giving up more than 3 a game at home, right? Is it Defense? I don’t know what it is.
Speed kills. San Jose were energetic little bees out there last night. They earned that 2nd point. No question.
Kane slowed down the Wings pace a bit, but that’s just natural…The reward will pay off once he gets his legs, timing and finesse back.
