Skill – Between the Legs Move (Paul Cotter)

KIDS: This play was deemed “too flashy” and “selfish” when I was growing up but is now being used really well in the NHL. You’ve seen a ton of NHL stars (Matthews, Bedard, Ovi) do it to perfection…and here’s Paul Cotter beautifully executing the puck-back-between-your-legs-and-around-the-defenseman move. When doing it right, like Cotter on this play, you’re showing some awesome deception like you’re shooting. The PHI D braces for the shot, gets flat-footed while lunging trying to go stick on puck, and Cotter takes it back through his legs to go around the D. Love it. Great job. And what a highlight!
