  1. I agree and disagree. I disagree that Gryba made primary contact with the head and I agree the Leafs are going to the Stanley Cup finals.

  2. Very similar to the Rome hit in Horton.. Will be interesting to see if they make the right call here, which would be one game at most, just to uphold the principle of head hits. This was not egregious

  3. when gryba went for the hit, he did like a bee sting, his shoulder hit ellers shoulder and also hit his face because he was on an angle, basically he hit his shoulder and face at the same time 2:43

  4. I'm not sure you can suspend the Ottawa player for this hit. I didn't see the illegal part of it. His elbow was tucked in. Didn't leave his feet etc…Horrible result, but from what Is aw a clean hit. Shanahan will probably give him 6 games.

  5. FYI, there was a small spot of blood right where Eller's head bounced off the ice. Principal point if contact was hip to groin.

  6. It's unfortunate to say this, but everyone saying that it was an accident, (and is right, I agree it was) do you really think Montreal fans are going to care? They are going to boo him like they did and still are doing to Zdeno Chara. I had massive amounts of respect for Montreal fans. Had.

  7. They ejected him to protecr Gryba and to protect the integrity of the game. But it was a clean hit. The results were unfortunate.

  8. Definately a clean hit..no doubt about it. Size of gryba vs size of eller of course there is going to be head contact but that wasnt the focal point. If I was the coach i would have tore a strip off of diaz for using eller as cannon fodder.

  9. This hit was hard and clean. It's disappointing that Gryba has a hearing with the league today.. The only thing that hit Eller's head, was the ice. Terrible call, but hey, the refs seem to favor the Canadiens at the Bell Center. In the words of Peter Laviolette, "Typical Montreal."

  10. This was just a suicide pass. If Eller didn't get hurt he shoulda been the first one up to punch Diaz in the face.

  11. bettman called in the 2 game susepension, 2 tiered NHL now, pro bettman, anti bettman

  12. I just cannot fathom why Gryba couldn't hit Eller on his left shoulder. He had it lined up and everything. He made a conscious decision to come across Eller's body and hit him on his right shoulder/chest. Had he made the hockey play and hit his left shoulder, which would have been easier for him to do, Eller still takes a big hit, and nobody gets hurt. That's my only complaint. He wasn't head hunting, but he wasn't body checking, he was out for the big hit. I don't like it, but not suspendable.

  13. Not a body check, but a hit. A body check would have seen Gryba hitting Eller on his left shoulder where he already was, not coming across his body.

  14. He knocked him out with shoulder & he hits his face on ice, that`s why he started to bleed ! He did bodycheck with shoulder ! He didn`t meant to injure him without a doubts ! Unlucky bodycheck & terrable resoults

  15. Clean hit!! It sucks but it was clean. Get over it Montreal. How many times have the Sens had to put up with stiff like this all year. Habs Suck!!!

  16. there is never a good reason to play that dirty. call it a clean hit or not.. it makes me want to stop watching hockey altogether. – nah, not happening. my vote is to gang up on the b@st@rd and let him have it! charra didn't deserve any less on his hit on Max Patch last year. shameful for such high paid players must play this way.

  17. diaz lacks experience or.. who's team is he on anyway? what if it was him who got hit.. probably feels bad enough, if he doesn't he certainly should. sheesh.

  18. As much as I hate the Canadiens (Bruins and Red Wings fan), they have a legitimate argument, HOWEVER, this hit is clean. Look at the later angles from CBC and it shows Eller's stick makes contact with the puck

  19. I'm in no way saying that head hits are legal, so don't go twisting my words. Raphael Diaz makes a suicide pass to Eller. To be honest, Diaz should've utilized better judgment and hit Galchenyuk with a pass up the wing

  20. If Diaz saw a streaking Galchenyuk up the right wing side, Montreal could've generated a scoring chance instead of losing Eller to a clean hit that ended up with a bad result. Montreal could never recover from that hit and it cost them the series (Price played with a porous defence/defense in front of him too)
