[Masters] Disappointed Keefe didn’t put you in the box to serve too many men call? Reaves smiles “He almost did. I had to remind him that I’d be coming out for overtime 4-on-4. I mean, I would’ve taken it. I probably would’ve gone on a b-way & scored. It would’ve been fun.”

He’s a great guy to have. Sucks it hasn’t really worked out so far. Still have a long way to go, hopefully things turn around.

Hope that’s a joke cause if Keefe actually did need Reaves to point that out to him, that’s pretty fucking concerning.

  3. Scored on which net?

In all seriousness, the few shifts he played he wasn’t bad. And did make a few hits. Couple that with the goal and I hope he is on the up. I really wanted to like reaves. There’s a role here for him if he actually performs.

I’m liking Reaves a bit more now; my concerns are actually less with him and his style of play, but more with how he’s deployed.

The Panthers are the perfect example of a team you’d want Reaves for. When they were smacking us around in the first period, that’s when you put him out with the stated goal of landing a big hit. Force them into a dump and chase (which they always do anyway) and just obliterate whoever goes after it. Put a bit of hurt and fear into them. Maybe face wash a guy if the opportunity is there (not Bennett though, since he’ll dive like a bitch).

Like isn’t that what Reaves is supposed to be here for? To make people feel uncomfortable and provoke them a bit? The man is built like a brick shithouse and got sold to us as a one-man-goon-squad. That has value… so play him toward that value? Reaves ain’t here to score or skate or even really bang and crash in front. He’s here to fight when we need fighting, and to lay absolutely devastating hits that hurt people. *Not injure people… just hurt them. Make them sore. Make them second guess chasing the puck.*

Man Reavo is a gem for this. It’s good that he can joke about the fact he’s lost a step and is just happy to still be playing high level hockey

Does anyone have the clip of this? They showed them on the bench on the broadcast and they all started laughing. I’m assuming this was the moment.

  7. He needs to find the right line to play on and I’m not sure the Leafs have the guys that fit well to make that line. Either way, I’d be fine if he was used as someone that dressed for games they are expecting to be rough (even though he really hasn’t shown a ton of that).

The Leafs needs to decide if they want an actual checking line with guys like Reaves on it or if they want a team that is more offensively deep with 4 scoring lines. Can’t have one dude that is a checking line default playing with guys that are out there wanting to be offensive. IMO a team that is hard to play against has an actual checking line that can go out there and slow the game down.
