The Sabres are starting to lose fans again, after a 7-2 loss to the Devils. Sneaky Joe points out that the Devils game is just the latest in a series of games where the Sabres embarrass themselves. Fans on our text-line are beginning to criticize Don Granato for the team’s play.
Plus, a tough matchup with the Rangers, where it’s tough to see things getting much better.

They hand off puck possession just to line change. Why not maintain possession. Or the dump to the corner and chase is getting old. If you come up with the puck in the corner 1 of 50 times stop doing it.
I like Granato but I don’t think he fires the team up enough.
Gambling is ruining all sports !!!!
I think the refs for the Bills game had some bets in for sure. Just AWFUL
It is becoming clear that something is off off off with the chemistry/confidence. I think it has to start with the coach – and the goaltending.
Someone please call Joel Quennville!!! Granato is not the guy for this team to turn the corner. He is the perfect AHL development coach.
We need guys like Radko Gudas and Milan Lucic! We need a dirty mofo who just wants to go out there and hurt people. Someone who’s gonna be fired up every game and bring some energy to these guys night in and night out
For both Buffalo coaches. It is not relevant whether they "deserve" to be fired. A lot of the discussion seems to hinge on whether they've done badly enough to be fired this year or whether they've lost the room, etc. Those are red herrings. The question is whether there are better options. I think it pretty clear that they are replacement level coaches at best given the results over meaningful sample sizes. Not the worst in the leagues. But clearly behind the better coaches. You know (1) a replacement level coach is not helping you win more games than the average of potential coaching hires. (2) you are less likely to win a title with a replacement level coach than an above replacement. Based on the Bills outcome this year, it seems you are much less likely to win a title rolling with a replacement level guy. In other words, there's basically no risk removing these coaches and trying again. You have a good chance of rolling higher. You have little chance of winning a title by standing pat, since other teams have above replacement coaches and have an edge. If I owned the teams, they would both go today.
graphics dept add a row for In Between/TBD
Ownership. Pegula fumbled on a 'culture guy' for the Bills after hiring Rex Ryan and has dangled the Sabres in the basement for over a decade and is nowhere to be seen or heard.
Edit: also…Devon Levi to Rochester. Please. Before the guy loses all confidence. The team in front of him will give him no chance to establish any momentum. He either will need to steal a game or get smoked for half a dozen.
Edit on the Edit: how are we blaming Comrie and expecting him on waivers? You're asking guys to play once every 3 or 4 games, they get no groove. Hence what I said about Levi. Send him to ROC and he starts 95% of the games and ride UPL and Comrie. He was left out to dry on Saturday.
I was super pumped for the Boston game and Saturdays Jersey game but what a disappointment. Heartless hockey.
Im over it already what a shit show. Is Granato on the hot seat yet?
GUILTY! 😊😊 I turned off Saturdays NJ Buffalo game at 4-0 and watched a pretty good game – Philly beat NYI 1-0 in a shootout .
I’ve been a fan since the beginning. Over the last 10-12 years we have had a lot of talented players who are content to simply be in the league and cash a pay cheque. No heart. No pride.
more defense zone in first period, more neutral zone in second period, more offense zone in third period?
I think the game prior against the Devils, once again dressing 7 D and 11 F, losing Girgensons therefore playing with only 10 forwards for a lot of the game forcing guys to play more minutes, hurt them in the energy tank against the Devils. Its not an excuse but it could not have helped. They have to stop this 7-11 crap
A lot of bad contracts ending soon. Okposo and skinner soon. They need some shut down players and a little nastiness on the backend
That was the best third period of the year. Let's go Upie
Best game of the year tonight.
Maybe slow the defeatist roll.
Had Peterka and the under. 🤷🏻♂️
