  1. Elliot did say you could call us the favorites right now, but Kane wants no leaks so it’s tough especially when we have Yzerman in charge who is noted for no leaks as well

He noted we have some cap flexibility to make it work, he likes DeBrincat, we have an easy travel schedule which could be attractive too

His sources that he trusts: one says Detorit for sure, another says Detroit or Florida, another said Dallas isn’t out yet but also Detroit and Florida are in the lead

  2. Linked with time stamp for the start of the discussion.

Summary Detroit is the leader in the club house right now… but the winds can change according to Friedman. Kane wants no leaks. Friedman kinda of hedging but thinks Detroit is the favorite right now because of cap space and Debrincat relationship and travel(which I thought was interesting). Limited travel short distances.

Friedman says it challenging to get info on it. One source believes it’s Detroit. Another thinks it’s either Detroit Florida or Dallas. Friedman kinda rules out Dallas because he believes Dallas wants to add on defense. Also says there are teams that haven’t come out that looked into it. Suspects Boston might be a team that poked around on Kane.

Friedman finishes by saying he’s most curious about Detroit because of cap room space on the roster and are performing well in contention in the Atlantic with 2nd best goal differential in the division 3rd in the conference which he says many believe is a good way of telling how good you are. Says “definitely think Detroit is a serious team in this”

Continue listening after as they have a general discussion on how the wings are playing. Good discussion on Lyon and team performance.

Elliot is just blowing smoke. Half the statements on this pod are “I believe at this time that this event might happened, based on the information I have right now, which is subject to change.”

I really hope not. Especially if Kane is hell bent on more than one year. His point totals last year look decent, but his underlyings took a decent step back, he doesn’t even entertain the thought of attempting to play defense, and he’s coming off of a surgery that has a 100% success rate of ending careers (and he’s worried about travel? That’s not someone who is healthy). Yes, we could just LTIR him, but we’re a fringe playoff team at the moment and Kane just flat out isn’t good enough to move the needle anymore. Low risk, low reward.

I’m fine with a short term, low-AAV deal, but I’m hesitant to believe that it’s going to be a game changer of a signing. It’ll be something to talk about for two weeks before the story fades into oblivion. Hope I’m wrong, but I’m curbing my enthusiasm.

  6. I both love and hate this.

On one hand Kane’s hockey IQ is off the charts and would be an upgrade on the pp and allow the wings to spread out their offense.

In the other, he’s a former blackhawk that dominated the wings for so long, and he was there as a leader during the scandal.

  7. If it’s a multi-year deal, this will be awful. We don’t need to spite the Hawks that badly.

As someone said online recently, “ I’d love a Patrick Kane like player, just not Patrick Kane.”

  9. I’m tired of this stuff. Shit or get off the pot already.

  10. Graham_scott

I love all of these euphemisms for “no one knows until Stevie and Kane sign”

No fuck off, I don’t want anyone who was near that 2010 team. Especially not someone who has an injury that no one has returned at anywhere near full pace from.

  12. momarketeer

If Yzerman brings him here it’s the right choice. I would LOVE to see Kane in the Wings jersey.

Real talk, is Kane still a first line player post injury?

  13. AdFlat4908

The hype for a potentially zero impact signing is incredible. He might never play again. If he does he might not be better than anyone on our 4th line

  14. HamAndTunaFish

As long as it’s just for this season on a show-me deal. Maybe 2 years at a reasonable cap hit (ie no more than 3M)

  15. justconfusedinCO

Fuck that puck-slinging rapist. Let his ass be blown back to the Windy City, for all I care

  16. sivadkaz

Am I wrong for thinking I don’t want Kane on the team?
