Columbus Blue Jackets Losing Streak Hits 7

The Columbus Blue Jackets were in this game until they weren’t, and have now lost 7 in a row. Another good performance by Elvis was wasted by an inability to score, the star players are invisible, and something big has to change for the game on Saturday against the Capitals. But what?

  1. The coaching isn’t visible ..and that’s always a concern. When you look around the league teams getting consistent results feature a coach that has structure and ability to play full game to wins..sorry for fans.

  2. I think we can blame Hayden for this one… Sounds like we we're playing okay until he put the game on 😉 hahaha

This season is a wash. Like again, sure they aren't preforming but you don't bench your big money guys day in and day out. The message has been sent. Give them the opportunity to get the monkey off their backs. I mean, Pazzy is trying all he can, I cant totally rag on the guy, but how is anyone going to come up with chemistry when each shift is a new linemate? Clearly Jarmo and Davidson have to go. Jarmo couldn't put together a Kinder Surprise, let alone a team that can play together.

Identity has been gutted over the years. Calvert, Motte, Foligno, Anderson, Dubois, Domi, Bjorkstrand, Savard. The grit is no more. We're soft. And I think a bigger issue (again this is on mgmt) is we cant seem to develop players, or fail to unlock talent. Marchessault, Karlson, Milano, Duclair, now Foudi, and frankly, soon to be KJ if this keeps up. Our scouting needs some fixing. Or the GM has to take more consideration when the discussions are had on how they'll gel with the team.

They need to gut the big wigs and start fresh. Find a hot new GM who can put together a club and try again. Cause this is getting uglier every season.

  3. From what i have seen games thus far, i think the most important issues for this team are, in this order:

    1. Clearing their own zone. Every like 5 minutes they have an issue either getting the puck out or getting a controlled exit. That is WAY too often. Yeah it happens like twise per period for every team, but it's like 3-5 times per period where Jackets just can't exit their zone when they have the puck. That is clearly a coaching issue. If it were just a few players who had trouble with it, then it would be on them, but it's almost every player on the team that has trouble, thus making it clearly a coaching issue.

    2. Their passing is bottom 5 in the league. They strugle consistently to make a solid, nonboncy passes to each other. When you watch other teams play and you compare their passing to the Jackets, it's clear that Jackets do way more passes to the skates, weird, hard to control bounces or just chips to open space hoping a player gets there in time. Their inability to just make concistent NHL level passes to one another is really hurting the team in almost all areas, it's hurting their shooting, their puckcontrol and is really a big factor in their turnovers.

    3. Inability to win faceoffs. This makes them to chase the game right from the start. Right now they only have Jenner and sometimes Kuraly. All others are either not good enough or just bad. It's very typical to see several guys with faceoff numbers like 2/8 or 3/10. That is also on the wingers, because if the faceoff is not a clean win for the opposition, they should be digging in to help get that 50/50 puck, but most of the time they either don't or are failing in it. This makes it so, that when they got an o-zone faceoff, they don't get anything out of it, because they lose that faceoff 70-80% of the time. This severy hinders their offensive players and makes it so that they rarely can get sustained pressure on the opponent.

If you fix even one of these issues, then they should be around 0.500 team. If they want to be a playoff team, they likely have to fix all 3. And i don't think they can.
