I don't like the idea of explaining every disastrous team performance just by low effort. It's not like they're not skating. The whole offense now is a bit off, team is grinding a lot in the offensive zone without significant results and when they eventually get a good scoring chance they can't beat goaltender.
I have been saying this since Maurice came, their shooting and finishing is next to 0. Just take a look at how they were even scoring this season, lucky bounces or the goalie making a bad mistake. The whole time for the past two seasons they have just been drilling the puck right into the goalie, which is pretty terrible, but no one is even there for rebounds so they are not doing it for rebounds, is it just because they really suck at shooting? I dont think they suck at shooting as we have seen what they can do during their presidents trophy season, literally looking up "bardown" on instagram gifs will give you Swaggy putting it right into the corner, and seeing them run drills they can snipe the puck easily. I think the whole grind them down style or whatever has gotten to them mentally. They think what they did in the 21 season should never be done on ice again even if it was beneficial for them.They have to think the only way to score now is those gritty goals in order to impress Maurice. Every single shot they have done this season, "Missed wide", "swallowed up by ____", "deflected by the stick of ____". Jaws said it before how Maurices theory of playoff style in the regular season is not the greatest because it is not the playoffs is 100% correct. All it takes is teams to be aggressive and clog the puck carrier and their offense is diminished, especially when their only option is to wheel it around the boards where the other teams goalie or d is waiting for. Something needs to change in the structure, and frankly I think the success in the playoffs has everyone blind to what Maurice is doing. They BARELY made it into the playoffs in the first place because of similar issues, if they didnt make it everyone would want the man gone. The games lately have been drawing fans away from watching them after they had just gained a lot of new ones, hopefully that changes.

Rough week for y'all. You are still well situated in the standings, but it's always hard when your team is on a losing streak. Imagine how Duck fans feel right now or how San Jose feels all the time.
The Panthers must've heard the Lightning have Vasi back and realized they have no chance this year and hence the minimal effort. 😆
I like the return of PO Paul Maurice hope he lights a fire under their ass. Honestly I don’t know how the process goes for associate coaches in the NHL but Kompon needs to go, he runs the PP and it is by far the WORST I’ve seen (outside of the 22 Playoffs).
What sucks is Tkachuk is not the same player after the Kolesar hit. Very cautious and that specific line is not having the same effect as last year. I know it’s only two games, but I don’t want this to start being a bad habit.
