Get your tickets to WWP Night with the Grand Rapids Griffins! – https://griffinshockey.com/wwp
After an exciting announcement (2:20), we start by discussing the Detroit Red Wings giving Hockeytown a Thanksgiving Eve gift (which was necessary, thanks to whatever the Lions did today) with a 4-0 shutout over the New Jersey Devils – Alex Lyon with his second straight solid game (Reimer and Husso’s jobs in trouble?), Lucas Raymond continuing his hot streak, Dylan Larkin breaking his scoring drought, Robby Fabbri chipping in, Moritz Seider’s strong game, Klim Kostin being out, & more on Derek Lalonde’s squad (4:45).
Afterwards, we discuss Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings being among the 3 finalists for Patrick Kane’s services, what the risk would be on that contract, and the likelihood of him going to Detroit over Florida or Buffalo (19:40).
Next, our interview with Dan Watson, Head Coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins, to discuss his 1st AHL season as HC, Red Wings prospects like Edvinsson, Kasper, Mazur, Lombardi, Danielson, Cossa, & others, as well as WWP Night in Grand Rapids (28:00).
Finally, NHL news including a 4 team World Cup, Zach Benson, & more (51:50) before we take your questions and comments during our Overtime segment (1:04:20) – enjoy!

Holding the Devils to 16 shots including only 2 in the 3rd period is strong
"Obligatory Comment"
Kane is not going to our Wings. He would be a great asset on our PP. but Stevie will not gamble on a Kane contract. It also would not give us much cap room especially if other moves are to be made.
Why worry about line combinations when they are rolling 11 and 7? The whole point of 11 and 7 is that there aren't really any set lines. DeBrincat still had plenty of shifts with Larkin and Raymond. Also don't see why everyone is saying Larkin is "obviously" hurt. He looks like the same player out there, he just isn't getting points. It's not like he's slow or avoiding contact. I'm sure he's not 100% but the lack of production is in line with how the team is playing.
Don't care about Kane. He'd be pushing Berggren and Edvinsson even further down the depth chart, and they should both be here.
🙏 to god we at least get kane for 1 year
Brad looking like Jeff Petry
An Old North American player like Kane fits Perfectly in how Lalonde likes to build his team. Not chocked he's still in the discussion even if large swaths of the fan base (and more) wants the focus to be on fostering young players confidence and allow them to develop in the NHL. As a Swede, it is definitely difficult not to look to other teams with more Swedish players to (also) route for, when you see how our young Swedes are being treated by the organisation. They are obviously not pleased, and my support is with them.
I really hope that Dan Watson can turn it around, currently at 4-7-1-1 for 13 points, tied for last in division. I been watching the games and disappointed in the play lately.
You guys keep saying the wings struggle to show but they're like 7th in scoring. If they can figure out special teams again they could stay rolling
Go Pack Go!!
Pure speculation, but maybe the players are too fixed on the "system" for the PP. Like every entry looks the same, drop pass, speed entry. Maybe give the players some freedom to try different things.
Overperformer I'd say Compher is a good choice. Not necessarily from a points standpoint but his overall game has been valuable. Underperformer I'd say Husso; he just hasn't had games where he takes over. He's had moments in games but nothing great and has regressed from this time last year. Hopefully he can get back in the groove and steal some games.
On Petry, I'm more than willing to give him some latitude because I don't think he was really in the plans, ie he wasn't traded for to solve a problem but rather just fell into the DRW's lap. I'm guessing they are basically letting him play out his last year with his home town team before retirement so the expectations are really low for me. I just hope he can step up his game to make it worth playing him as often as they have been.
If we get Kane I want him and Cat playing on the second line with Compher maybe best way to have 2 scoring lines
Enjoy Grand Rapids! Great town, my hometown (even though I now live in DC).
Wings are not ready for a playoff run. Brining Kane in would not be very productive and a waste of money.
We have the second most goals in the league. When does the “struggle to score” narrative go away?
