Kulikov hit on Connor Bedard!

  1. Was that necessary to run him thru the boards, when all Kulikov had to do was maybe rub him out. It was boarding all the way and possibly interference ( he never had possession) , even Tony Granato at the intermission said so. But that's the NHL, have to live with it. I can see Bedard not in the league in 4 years because of injuries.

  2. I'm usually quick to say boarding, give him a major, kick him out, etc., but here he initiates the hit shoulder-to-shoulder and then Conor basically gets rolled to make it end up looking like boarding. I think this was a good no-call.

  3. The NHLPA should hold classes for rookies on how to take a hit, when to not try and dodge a hit and just the overall mechanics of the physicality of NHL checks. I see too often these young kids coming into the league and trying to dodge a ride along the boards hit and they make it worse than it should have been. Yes, there is some onus on the one delivering a hit but there is also onus on the recipient to not make last second changes the put themselves in a more vulnerable position. The kid is lucky that he only learned what the boards taste like that night.
