The Red Wings completley dominated the New Jersey Devils. Getting out to an incredibly hot start by creating a lot of pressure through turnovers, blocked shots, and physical play. And for once, they were rewarded, scoring 3 goals in the 1:12 late in the 1st. Lucas Raymond led them off, scoring his 4th in as many, followed by Dylan Larkin scoring his 1st goal in 6 games, with Robby Fabbri banging home a redirected Daniel Sprong shot. In the 2nd the powerplay broke through as well, with Moritz Seider rifling home a shot from the point. From there Detroit just played stellar defense by limiting shot attempts to outside the shot, and blocking TWENTY of them, allowing Alex Lyon to cruise to an easy 16 save shutout. #lgrw

Complete game? Offensively looked like shit in the 3rd, especially the power play. Looked good in the first and ok in the second. Defense was good throughout the game.

I think shuffling up the lines made it work. Make the guys in the line up work at their chemistry, instead of just leaving them together and hope it happens. I hope we see Lyon more times this year.

Beyond impressed with this win, the Devils may not be playing well atm but are a really good team. We played a 60 minute game and got rewarded for it. Friday we will give Boston their second loss.
After watching the Wings win, I'm looking forward to the Leafs losing tonight and then blaming their effort on the trip to Sweden.

One takeaway – Sprong is a half step from being so damn good. He shakes shit up the whole time he’s on the ice. A lot of mini mental lapses but such a difference maker. Type of guy that can step up and be a third line playoff legend
Playing a full & complete 60 minutes last night is something my Red Wings need to bring every night. I really hope this is a sign of where their game is, and will stay for the most part of this season.
To think that any team in this league (NHL) can play a full 60 minutes every game… every night is something that every fan of every team wants, but that's not being realistic at all.
However, if they can be consistent enough with it… maybe 75% – 85%, or a little better. Then not only will The Red Wings make the playoffs. They'll make the playoffs without the help of "The Wild Card Spot," and actually be a bona-fide threat come this April.
Oh!!! And did I mention that The Red Wings kept The Devils to under 20 shots (17) shots against "total" after 60 minutes I think?
Speaking of the number 20 😃 The Red Wings blocked 20 Devils shots in last night's game, and 16 of those shots were blocked by only 3 defensemen… "Petry/Wallman, and Sider."

Edit: Do we really want to trade Reimer to Edmonton? Husso let's in more goals, so maybe Holland wouldn't bite on a Husso trade, but Holland has made worse moves in his GM career, that's for sure. Also I still can't get past the fact that Reimer actually ducked out of the way of that baseball shot agaist Ottawa with two (00:02) seconds left in OT. That was not the time to try and make a highlight reel save at all.
I just cant get past that BS… not even a little bit, but I bet you Holland can get past it for sure.
