Sad to see Zadorov wants out. He was one of the biggest advocates for the team and the city over the last couple of seasons, and has played the best hockey of his career for the Flames. Given the start, I understand the trade request, it is just too bad.
Don't know how many leaf's u tubers clickbaiting Zadorov to leafs is imminent. Like the trade is already done. Like there are no other teams that might want him. Lol

When it comes to Carolina's defense, I feel like it's more of a logjam than having to many d-men. When you look at the rotation of Chatfield and DeAngelo, neither one of them have a purpose to just be a depth defensemen. Their purpose is to be NHL regulars where one is a good power play quarterback in DeAngelo, and one being a good top 4 defensemen in Chatfield.

Funny thing is when looking at Zadorov's numbers, his production and stats are better when he plays 16-18 minutes opposed to more than that. Some defenseman just perform better when they dont play 20+ minutes and hes one of them 💁♂️

There's something I don't understand about the 2020 draft, Holtz was only known as a goal scorer but was ranked and drafted higher than Jack Quinn who was considered as the best goal scorer of that draft class 🤔

Zedorov as a Muzzin replacement makes a bit of sense.
The Oilers could use Zadorov but I don't think the Flames are eager to help them.
Last season the Wild gave the Rangers a 5th round pick for Reaves (after sitting 25 straight games and on a expiring contract). From the minute the Leafs signed Reaves I figured the plan was to use him to start acquiring draft picks again down the line.

Who knows what else may have factored-into the equation here, but Zadorov's trade request wasn't about the loss against Toronto. He wanted to get a long-term extension deal done with Calgary, but Calgary has been quiet about it, and it doesn't look like they are very interested in re-signing him long-term. Zadorov wants to go somewhere sooner rather than later and showcase himself to the new team in order to get a long-term extension done there. It is a bit of risk for him doing that, as you clearly mentioned that he has been playing the best hockey of his career. He may not be as good of a fit on his next team, so he may not see the contract extension he is hopeful of seeing. Perhaps his best bet would have to just remained quiet until later on in the season as it is becoming obvious that the Flames are pivoting towards reselling (as evidenced by them putting a hold on all contract negotiations). His agent (who works for the Canucks apparently?) took the opportunity to make this public while in Toronto. Lucky coincidence, right?
If Reaves played like he did the first two games I'd be up in arms he was being scratched but he's done nothing since and didn't do anything when he shared ice with Marchand after he injured Liljegrin on a dirty play that didn't even get a penalty. If the change in play is Keefes doing, telling him to tone it down etc… fire him yesterday. If it's because Reaves just can't be bothered to do what they brought him in for he should have been scratched weeks ago.

As a Capitals fan, I think that we're one of the most likely destinations for Zadorov. We have the cap space with Backstrom on IR and very unlikely to play again this year. We have the underperforming defense (although our goals allowed per game is actually tied for 12th at 3.00, slightly better than average). And as of our last game against New Jersey, we have plenty of injuries on defense, too.
I was expecting the Capitals to score around 3.6 goals per game, and give up around 3.6 goals per game, so I am way off on my prediction so far. The Capitals are 31st in goals per game at 2.17 (but still 0.96 ahead of San Jose's 1.21 per game in 32nd).

Send Holtz back to the minors. Devils made a big mistake not using him as a trading piece earlier on.
i want two First Round picks for Zadorov, or a First and a Second, zadorov could be the next Victor Hedman and the Flames better get a massive HAUL for this guy!!
