Connor Ingram return to the blue paint, making 24 saves to backstop the Kamloops Blazers to a 4-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on WHL on Shaw Tuesday.
The product of Imperial, Sask., was back in the B.C. Interior and between the Blazers pipes for the first time since joining Team Canada for the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship in December.
In front of Ingram, his Blazers’ teammates took care of the offense, scoring four times before the Warriors were able to find the back of the net midway through the third period.
Garrett Pilon scored his 10th of the season to give the home team a 1-0 edge after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, veteran defenceman Joe Gatenby sent a seeing-eye single through Zach Sawchenko to give the Blazers a 2-0 advantage courtesy the power play.
Only 1:31 into the third period, Deven Sideroff made good on another power-play opportunity, giving the Blazers a commanding 3-0 lead. Rudolfs Balcers deposited a rebound past Sawchenko a little bit later to all but secure two points for Kamloops.
Thomas Foster put a power-play goal past Ingram to spoil the veteran’s shutout bid with 8:36 to go in regulation.
Ingram’s performance earned him his 15th win of the season.
Sawchenko stopped 32 pucks in defeat.
Lane Bauer (2A), Sideroff (1G-1A), Gatenby (1G-1A) and Pilon (1G-1A) all finished with multipoint efforts.
