  1. I actually read up some really good things about Jensen. I made a video last night, an article from SN, about which are the best 2 way defenseman are available heading into the deadline and I read that he was a very similar style to Tanev. Good puck mover, solid defensively, and his IQ is pretty good. Let me know if SN is right about that.

  2. Because I’m a Caps fan, so I don’t know a lot about how him. I try to follow every team, as I’m a YTber but I would love to know what you have to say.

  3. Nahhhh Boi Bowey is not that good at all. He’s okay at best. Jensen is in his prime and will help the Caps do exactly what they want to do right now and that is win now. Jensen is the better player of the 2, though Wings picked up a higher pick.

  4. I’m a caps fan and Bowey is an ok 3rd pairing defensemen and most nights he’s scratched

  5. Before everyone starts saying Detroit won, it's clear to see Detroit won now, but Bowey did well on an elite team, so who knows how he'll be on Detroit, and the second round pick is really just an early third, which could turn out to be nothing more often than not. Not saying Caps won, it looks like Detroit won; but it's stupid to say its obvious already imo. It's no hall for Larsson.

  6. Caps just signed Jensen to a 4 year contract @ 2.5 mil per year.
I wish Bowey all the best in the future.

  7. Given that Jensen has just re-signed it's a relatively good trade with both sides getting what they need. I do think initially, Detroit look to be the winners of this trade. Bowey, with a little bit more experience (It takes around 200 – 300 NHL games to completely develop an NHL defenseman, Bowey has only played 84 NHL games thus far) he could be a very solid 3rd pair defenseman or perhaps a good 2nd pair defenseman down the road for the Red Wings. Another huge positive is that he can jump straight into the lineup and we know that he is an NHL caliber player (as opposed to acquiring an unproven prospect who has yet to play an NHL game). Should that 2nd round pick be put to good use and Bowey becomes a staple part of the Red Wings defense then Detroit definitely won this trade. Washington still, however, get some stability and insurance on defense and of course, that 5th round pick could become anything. I do believe Detroit will win this trade in the long term though.

  8. I think you're undervaluing Jensen here like a lot of us DRW fans. Especially with that immediate good contract signing of 4@2.5m. Dudes been a fancy stat boss, being top 60 in the league this year on a terrible Dline while taking over 60% DZone starts. He got that immediate contract for a reason. He's been a league wide bonafide #3 (2nd pair) D man this year. Add in there being no other D rentals at all on the market basically, and his market value becomes a 2nd+ easily imo.
I don't think Jensen's about to go the way of Smith. He might not keep up being top 60 level player, but he can definitely be a decent 2nd pair guy for the next couple years. Depending on the picks, I think we're gonna see this being a fairly even trade in a few years.

  9. Damn, Washington didn't waste any time putting a ring on it. They already signed Jensen to a 4 year 10 million dollar contract!

  10. I'll have to disagree with your position on Red Wings dman prospects. We have Sulak/Lindstrom, and Hicketts/McIsaac are very highly regarded top 4 potential prospects

  11. Jensen will be an UFA and wasn't going to sign with Det (they won't be competitive for awhile). Get something for him so he doesn't walk for free. 4 years for 10 mil isn't bad for Wash either. I would have guessed Jensen might have gotten a little more $ per year then that. Good deal all around.

  12. Idk what games you’re watching but Jensen has without a doubt been our best defenseman. I rarely see him make “dumb decisions” with the puck. Might wanna go with DK, Kronner or Daley on that one

  13. Caps fan, happy with the trade. Bowey seemed to develop well in Hershey and I had high hopes. But he really hasn't gotten any better in his time with the Caps, and is the kind of defenseman that has you worried any time he is on the ice. Perhaps it just wasn't a good fit and he'll do well with Detroit, I hope that is the case. He is a good skater with pretty good size. Maybe just needs more time to adapt to the NHL level, seems like defensemen often take a couple years longer than forwards to get settled in.

2nd rounder seemed a bit steep for Jensen initially but after seeing that he was already extended four years I don't think it was too much at all. I think he'll be a good fit and probably play with Orpik this year and with Djoos or Kempny next year.

  14. i really think the caps win this trade. jensen was/should be/ is
a solid Dman on any other team he would have been in the show along time ago… detroit has a road block of dmen because of bad signings … jensen should have been called up years ago

  15. This is the classic win-win trade
Best the redwings could have gotten and Washington didn't give up any crucial piece plus they signed Jenson to a great contract
