Ben Hutton is a guy who was highly touted to being a good defensive prospect during his rookie year. Fast forward a few years later, and Hutton is in a position where he played his worst professional year and was benched a considerable amount of time. For the Vancouver Canucks in their upcoming season, what are my expectations for Ben Hutton?

There's quite the logjam on the blue line. Assuming all RFAs are at least qualified, then looking at their waiver-eligible depth:
RD: Tanev, Stecher, Gudbranson, Biega
LD: Edler, Del Zotto, Hutton, Pouliot, Sautner, McEneny
That 6!! players on the LD. The likely max they will likely have is 4, and that's even before considering Juolevi. That will need to be pared down dramatically.
One of Sautner or McEneny will be waived. Then another one will be traded by opening day. If people assume that its Hutton because of an idea that his relationship with Green is strained beyond repair, I believe they are wrong. Plus, his value is so low now, it may not be worthwhile. Waiting until at least TC to see what Hutton will bring is worthwhile. My money is still on Del Zotto or no one being moved during the draft. Really doubt it will be Tanev (although I would hope it would).

I really like Hutton. Great guy to have in the locker room. He has an ideal frame on the blue line, and has good IQ. He just needs to put the pieces together and hit the gym with Virtanen. If he could improve his fitness levels and skating for next season he would be a solid d man.
I know it’s not the best option but I would trade him sooner or later because for some reason the defence got better when he wasn’t on the roster. Is it just me or is it just the game plan.
He's a 5th Round Picks Don't Really Expect Much
Ben Hutton is overthinking the game. I agree with what you said legorocks he needs to keep it simple and focus on d first i think he has the capabilities of being a consistant top 4 d man putting up 5 goals/ 20-30 pts a season with the right mindset.
Hey legorocks make a video on “should we trade Nilsson in the draft” his value went up after winning the gold medal, and Demko could come up next year, while depietro could split time in Utica. Idk just thought of this and it makes sense in my head
Edler was absulte trash this year give away after give away in my mind he was hands down there worst defenseman

Would you consider his last bad season as a coaching mistake? Perhaps Green should have been more active in dealing with Huttons new poor play style.
