  1. Never understood why he was called a bust hes a big frame and that often takes longer to lesrn how to utilize effectively but hes looking very good and knows how to use his size much better

  2. Quinton Byfield's breakout season has OFFICIALLY arrived…! What are YOUR thoughts on QB's season so far? And how good do YOU see him being for this Kings franchise? Can he be a franchise player for them? I'd LOVE to hear YOUR thoughts! #GravGang #RoadTo75kSUBS

  3. Some fans were expecting more earlier….but i never saw them call him a bust …this is contrived crap

  4. We all know why social media edgelords we’re calling byfield a bust. It’s the same thing for the nba but reversed. The two leagues with the most racist fans.

  5. Remember at the beginning of 22-23 season he suffered a broken ankle that delayed his season start and set him back a little. Even in juniors he was a good goal scorer but not an elite goal scorer. he is more of a playmaker which he is doing now. Using his size, speed and reach to get on top of players faster than they expect, control the puck and use his great vision to find an open linemate. I couldn't be happier with his development. ok, MAYBE a few more goals but I'm sure they're coming. One more note regarding his slow showing in the U20, he was still the youngest player on the team.

  6. Fans these days would call Malkin a bust for not playing in the NHL for his first two years after the 2004 draft. Let the young kids develop for a few years

  7. Kings don't necessarily play a traditional center-wing system but use a 1-3-1 where the closest forward to the puck attacks with the other 2 in support regardless of position.

  8. He's always been more of a playmaker, just look at his stick length compared to his height. It's like he's a 5'8 guy stuck in a 6'5 body

  9. Im so glad he and Laf are breaking out, both got labeled busts way too early. They were drafted during unprecedented circumstances because of the pandemic and hadn't played in a real game in ages. Stutzle and Raymond developed much quicker, but not everyone is like that. I'm sure we will get more late bloomers from the 2020 draft, it's just too hard to pinpoint how all the time off affected each guy's development.

  10. Great analysis Gravitech!!! He's been incredible so far. Just need to work on his shot. He'g going to be a beast.

  11. He was already looking good down the stretch last year. Great result.

Maybe should valm fown eith thr bust label.

  12. He’s only putting up points because of who he is playing with. Look at his stats before being moved to the first line. Not sure how he earned a spot on the first line. Can’t score either

  13. LA had a really good 2020 draft QB is pretty much on track, Brock Faber has pretty much been the Wild's best D-man, and Alex Laferriere has had a really strong start to the season for LA that's a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rnd pick currently playing well in the NHL plus both Kasper Simontaival(3rd) and Aatu Jamsen(7th) are scoring threats for their respected Liga teams

  14. Glad he’s starting to breakout! I admit I was one of the people who called him a bust and I’ve been a kings fan for more than a decade. Happy to get proven wrong, excited to see his future in the nhl!

  15. Byfield broke an ankle in a bad fall into the boards at the end of camp in ‘21 then came into camp in ‘22 and got sick and lost 20lbs before he played a game. Anyone who called him a bust didn’t pay attention to what was going on with him. He’s finally healthy to start a season and showing why he was picked where he is. He’s huge and he’s fast and got elite play making skill.

  16. I thought the Rantanen comparison was apt – especially if Kopitar and co. stick around for a few more years, perhaps the wing is the way for him to really excel.

  17. Happy to see him performing better.
I am still not ready to go as far as you are.
Too many games still this year he kinda disappears .
And his shot is not now at least at a nhl level.
All being said he is doing better than I would have expected.

  18. He was the youngest of his draft class, and everyone knew he was a long term project. This is when I expected him to pick it up. Totally reminds me of Joe Thornton

  19. I think the term “bust” has as much to do about the draft spot used to take him as it does his results.

Many have mentioned his age, his being a long term project etc. The bust is that the Kings wasted. 2nd overall pic on him when there were better options. 2nd overall should be NHL ready. No other team wouldve taken him at the 2 spot.
