The Detroit Red Wings lost in spectacular fashion, and we’re here to break it all down!
Tune in as we discuss the Meltdown in Manhattan, including poor performances from Larkin, DeBrincat & Co., Husso’s rough game, Lalonde’s squad getting pummelled on special teams, Klim Kostin, Michael Rasmussen, and Andrew Copp giving them hope, Seider, Raymond, and other stars not factoring in, Robby Fabbri’s return & more (5:20).
After a look ahead in Detroit’s schedule, we discuss the goalie predicament in Edmonton as Ken Holland has to try to salvage Connor McDavid & Leon Draisaitl’s primes by getting the Oilers some goalie help: can Alex Lyon be the answer? James Reimer or Ville Husso? Why is Edmonton doing this again (22:15)? Also, can Ville Husso hang onto the starting job in Hockeytown (40:45)?
Next, some NHL news as we discuss mandatory neck protection (which Jake Walman has already tried out), more on the Chicago Blackhawks 2010 scandal, & more (45:20) before we take your questions and comments during our Overtime segment (51:25) – enjoy!

Hello Edmonton! Yes, we have options if you are interested.
I'm glad I couldn't watch this one, ESPN+ is way better than premium cable. I get Hulu and Disney+ bundled for cheap too. Our Red Wings are way better than how they played in NY.
I love the beanies, can I order one?
Ned and Mrazek both have better save% than Husso this year. My guess is Lyon is better too. Reimer obviously is.
Husso is letting in way to many easy goals, way to many period! Win or lose tomorrow ( Reimer)…Lyon needs a shot to help us like he helped Florida
Could Detroit send Fabbri down to the AHL for conditioning?
The player safety committee in any sport is a joke. It happened with goalies and their neck guard, it needed to happen with players sooner rather than later. If their fining rookies for taking warm-ups without helmets they can make neck guards mandatory. On other notes, I think we need to stop riding the Husso and Reimer tandem and get Lyon out there sooner to see what value you have there for potential trade value. Every time we have a bad game we just get a bunch of I don't knows from Lalonde and the players and blame it on the teams learning curve. You can't just keep leaning on veteran presence like you said. Things I think the team haven't even moved a tiny bit on. Penalty discipline and starting with the same energy every game/laziness. Motivation energy just can't be the top line or just sprinkled in 50% of the lineup. I think there could be a package trade w/ another desperate team like Edmonton or Carolina and add another "debrincat" to the top 6 but Detroit has to stay relevant otherwise we will see Steve cut bait again for the deadline. Remember he has to decide in January whether or not he's keeping players like Perron or Ghost or Sprong, but he needs a damn good reason or he will just fire sale.
Reimer should of been the starter 2 weeks ago. Detroit isn't even trying to win by putting Husso out there 70% of the games. Lyon might be better too. (Higher career sv% btw) Don't trade any of the goalies. Lyon at 800k for two years could end up as a great value. If Lyon looks good when he eventually plays, I would not be opposed to sending Husso down and taking a buried cap penalty for a little bit more cap space and if he gets claimed (unlikely) that would be a major salary cap relief for next years free agency. Overall we have 3 goalies that make like a combined 6 mil or so. Obviously 1 guy is making most of it but I'm fine with the overall cap hit at the position and just put the 2 best out there even if it's not Husso
Villi Husso is performing slightly below expected based on the quality he’s faced. Through 9 games he has seen 30.15 expected goals and has allowed 32 actual goals. That puts his goals saved above expected at -1.9. Not too bad, but not good. The concerning thing is that the Red Wings are allowing 3.35 expected goals against pre game (30.15 expected goals / 9 games) when Villi Husso is in the net. That is the second highest expected goals allowed per game that a goalie who has played the majority of his team’s games has faced. That’s too much quality per game to expect a consistent performance from a goaltender. The Wings need lower the chances they give up if they want a better and more consistent Villi Husso.
Me and what others are saying about Fabbi is move him however and make room for our young guys in GR to crack the line up and grtbthe progressing
All I want to see in tonight's game is us not to start the game down 1-0 before the puck drop
17:28 Robbi "Glass Bone's" Fabri
It's time, bring up Edvinsson. He's not going develop any further in Grand Rapids. I like Petry but he looked frozen at MSG
It was alarming to see Ras be the worst player on a 4th line with Klim and Fischer, and I'm a big Klim fan but that shouldn't happen. Hopefully the goal gets him going.
How can anyone be surprised at how bad petry has been 🤣 he’s been moved 3 times in a year come on 😂
I'm pretty sure Carey Price wore the turtle neck gaurd his whole career
Need to talk about the personal responsibility of being situationaly aware of where your skates are rather then blowing past the fact that the guy didn't give a shit that his skate was more then 4ft in the air. Neck guards won't fix the issue. It only mitigates half of the problem. The other half is responsibility. The sport of hockey isn't for any person that is athletic. The way I see it, is the same way I would react to a person with a negligent discharge of a firearm that killed someone. That's where the news reports are wrong. They just want to move on and have people wear or talk about wearing neck guards. We're all to soft and scared now days to even mention on camera the negligence that we all saw. It's a damn shame.
Just move on from Fabbri. He has done nothing since being a wing. How does he help us?
Husso has to play better. He can not start every game slow and let in such soft goals….
Perron looks old and slow along with Chairot and Petry! What are we doing with these guys?
I'm mostly frustrated with fabbri because his roster spot in top 6 should have been used on Danielson.
Luckily, Cossa, Gylander, and Bednar have started their respective seasons well. Augustine and Guimond need time to adjust to their new leagues.
WRT to neck guards, if USA Hockey mandates it, I'm not worried about the discomfort. I'm worried about overheating. I tried playing goalie twice. I got dizzy the first time and passed out the second. I overheat way too easy for whatever reason, so I wear nothing underneath my chest protector. I've never worn one, though, so I have no clue if this is a legitimate worry.
For the injury to suspension imagine if Lucas Raymond was still out for hurting Matt Murray last year
Win senecio is Berggren plays
Goaltending is much harder nowadays
What is with Seider? He looks unhappy
Ken Holland is a HOF Fraud. Just say it. SMH
Weren’t like 3 of the goals through traffic and tipped? Detroit isn’t clearing people from the front of the net, and their forwards aren’t creating any traffic in front of opposing goalies
I dont think Husso has been as bad as people are trying say he has been. People like to blame a goalie and a ton of goalie success is team defense, Detroit gives up so many odd man rushes, let traffic sit around the net and their PK just sits back and let’s teams setup. Ever notice how Detroit’s PP struggles against aggressive PK’s? Detroits PK needs to Get after it until they actually have it well established in your zone.
The pins in the jerseys makes me twitch and stutter like simple jack
You can't just say the Oilers only have McDavid and Draisaitl, Nugent-Hopkins had 100 points last year and Hyman had 83.
Sad Datsyuk and Zetterberg never had a 100 point season
Bigger question is why is Petry on the PP. What if sprong could actually hit the net???
I don’t think there is a better team in the 3rd period than the Detroit. If they perform all game like they do in the 3rd, it would be a hard team to beat.
