This is only a bad contract if you don’t know hockey very well. Palat isn’t on this team to score regular season points. Come playoff time, he’s clutch and has come close to a point-per-game in some years. We’ll be thrilled to have him on the books at this amount come playoff time again this year.

I think Palat is maybe a little overpaid but in terms it’s not too bad. The Hubby contract on the otherhand is insane!

I’m not going to argue it’s a good contract, but is this based on numbers or is it just a top 10 list of some guys opinion?

I disagree with palat being in this. He is not there to put up points, he is there for culture and playoffs. And he is doing exactly that. He is 100% fulfilling his contract

The Devils had to overpay FAs to come here when they were in the middle of their rebuild. I don’t think Palat is grossly overpaid but I’m assuming the Devils came in with the highest offer. I’m thinking the same thing for Dougie. Dougie had a nice year last season as an offensive defenseman. I do believe the back end of Dougie’s contract will be ugly.
