Good trade! It will raise the level of the bottom six. The top six is fine enough.
Lafferty for a fifth was a decent trade tbh. I understand the annoyance with the picks but it’s not a bad thing to have a group of guys who you can cycle for the bottom six in case of an injury
You don’t need to worry about trading that 5th rounder being “Benning like”, 5th rounders have around a 5.5% chance of playing 100 games or more in the NHL. You could draft in the 5th round for the next 18 years and not get a player as good as Sam Lafferty.

5th round picks mean nothing imo
Lafferty is a guy who can play 4C, 4W, or even 3W at times. I’m glad they went for him just to add extra cushion to the bottom six. It shows that they’re doing everything they can to make this a contending team
So who exactly was supposed to be the 4th line center if they didn't do this deal?
Studnicka wasn't it, Aman definitely wasn't it……
No prospects showed up at training camp to take that position.
That leaves one option!
Nothing wrong with a 5th round pick for a guy who's contract expired at end of year. It will give Canucks assets to move at end of year. And if Sam does pretty good on the Canucks, then he might bring in more then a 5th round pick at end of year.
